Fiance and I are going to be making a post-Lakemoorfest trip up to Milwaukee on Sunday and I'd like to go somewhere pretty good to eat that we wouldn't normally be able to, so any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

The problem is that the Gurnee area is filled with a bunch of standard franchise places thanks to Great America and the mall.

Kenosha has some options, and they're right off the expressway (Brat Stop, some stuff in the Woodman's area)

"I'd like to go somewhere pretty good to eat that we wouldn't normally be able to..."

Does this refer to cost, location, or some other factor?

In Milwaukee, Three Brothers is fantastic (Bay View). I also highly recommend the new Mama DiMarini's for pizza.

Mostly location...I don't really want to be spending a ton of money but if the place is that amazing I can be convinced to open up the wallet.

Three Brothers. Some absolutely incredible food in an old Schlitz brewery.

Dude, you should hit Frank's in Kenosha up for breakfast. It's a bricked up streetcar. Just order the garbage plate and trust me on that. It will be crowded but worth the wait.

Lake Geneva area is great to check out and isn't out of the way up to Milwaukee. The fiance will love the shopping area and there are several great restaurants to stop at that don't cost you an arm and a leg, such as Popeyes (not the fried chicken). Others probably have better suggestions for restaurants there.

Franks is a hassle, and not really all it's hyped up to be, IMO.
I agree with a retard about Captain Mikes.
They have a Trailer Park Boys themed burger menu, and a shit load of good beer.

Edited to add: If you find yourself heading north on 41, I highly recommend Captain Porky's at 41 and Wadsworth Rd.
Bomb ass fried jumbo gulf shrimp and the BBQ is awesome too.

Pretend you didn't read the entire post. LG is like dining Siberia. The food at Popeye's is unremarkable and the interior is loud and ugly. They continue to be in business for no other reason but being on the lake. Sprecher's is a TGI Friday's that isn't called TGI Friday's (it occupies a former Houlihan's). Everything else is either a Greek coffee shop or a chain. The pizza runs the gamut from "acceptable" to "unspeakable," and the acceptable one is just Gino's East. It's really a terrible town to eat in, and the fact that they've been unable to adjust to the foodie trend has taken a big bite, if you'll pardon the expression, out of tourism.

Never heard of The Triangle. The Point right on 41 is a pretty good breakfast spot as well as The Shanty up
in Wadsworth off 41.

Another good option and they have new access from 94 that makes it easy to get to.

If you are up for a trendy / hipster really good meal right on Water Street in Milwaukee I would highly
recommend Rumpus Room. Prices aren't crazy and it is very nice.

http://www.rumpusroommke.com/

If you want to get a drink I can't recommend any more highly grabbing a drink here :

http://www.milwaukeepressclub.org/about/newsroom-pub

Absolute coolest little bar I have ever been to. The Safe House is right next door which is kinda cool
if you have never been there before. It is a spy themed place, but much more fun at night then during
the day.

I've always wanted to try the German restaurant located on the east frontage road of the expressway in Kenosha. It gives me a little bit of pause that it seems to be surrounded by porn shops and derelict motels

Yeah, there are so many porn shops on that Kenosha stretch of the Tri-State. I think at one point there were three all in a row.

That has been closed for years now Dolphin. Used to be called Little Europe but is now a nice bar called Uncle
Mike's. There is a good German restaurant in town right on Hwy 50 called House of Gerhard that I hear is very
good. http://www.houseofgerhard.com/

That place along the highway wasn't bad. House of Gerhard is a typical German restaurant and a pretty good one. I think it may be closed on Sundays. If so, Lipid can just hit the Hungry Head.

They tore a bunch down over the past 10 years as well as one of the worst strip clubs I have ever been to.
Superb Video is pretty much the gold standard for porn and been there for many years. Great selection of
bowls, bongs and other smoking equipment as well. Right across the street from the Harley dealership you
can see from the highway.

I'm not going to defend Lake Geneva to you. To be honest, I've seen nothing but bad reviews for other restaurants there. That said, Popeyes has what I consider to be the top 5 burgers I've tasted. Probably number four behind Twisted Spoke, Wildfire and Palmer's Place with Palmer's Place as a close fifth. The other food there doesn't look great, but its a decent joint. And there is a lady making balloon animals.

next time you are in Kenosha try a burger from this place. Everyone I talk to raves about them. Organic or grass fed
Kobe beef. The beer selection is pretty good too

The new Mickey Finn's Brewery is pretty sweet. You've already been to Firkin...

or just go to Milwaukee Ale House and sit outside on the deck overlooking the river.

Miss Katie's is a 1950's style diner near Marquette University that does a really good breakfast. The corned beef hash is outstanding.

When I read Hoffy's post, I couldn't wait to see the CH's response. I knew this nuclear post was coming. The CH hatred of Lake Geneva is so special.
