Yeah but it's not like ten years ago or even five years ago when he came back to WSCR. People have moved on to phones and tablets and walking around with their headphones listening to things without the fucking awful commercial breaks. We'd had five years of his mediocre shit show and, really, is it that much better than the garbage on THE GAME or ESPN?

The problem I have with Mac is the same problem I have with Bernstein. You're on a sports station and for a large portion of the time you're far too disinterested to talk sports. Your main guys present themselves as being above it all. Boers does it also. Everyone wants to come off as though they are far too evolved to talk sports. What I'm referring to is the actual game itself. They will do it during Bears season but that's about it. You will here about rock bands food 70's movies their kids rooftops contracts. If Bernstein isn't trying to play doctor he's a social activist. Mac is going to talk about North Dallas Forty or the Rolling Stones. Who cares if you fired up the grill or ate at some steak joint. It's not entertainment for me that's why I don't listen much. You don't have to spend all of your time talking sports. That would be minutiae also. You have Holmes talking comic books. The score has fallen off tremendously over the years.

Yes, quite a bit better.

I like local sports talk. I almost never listen to national stuff do to the bland announcing, formulaic presentation and their lack of sophistication with their subjects of conversation.

There is not much getting around radio if you want to listen to local sports talk. Dan has been the best producer of local sports talk in Chicago for a couple of decades.

Mac is going to be Howard Stern's sports guy!!

Stern's contract is up in December 2015, and that's it for him. No chance in hell SiriusXM throws hundreds of millions at him again. He has been on cruise control for years, despite a three day work week, and ten weeks vacation.

For those that think Mac is lazy, you ought to listen to Hampton's Howie sometime.

Sirius just tried to get him to sign an extension in exchange for pushing the show back an hour. So there are a lot of chances they extend him.

Where did you hear that? Most stories involving Howard, and his contract, are usually floated out there by his agent.

I can't see any way that Sirius throws $400 million at him again. His ego won't allow him to sign for anything less.

At what point do McNeil's superfans finally say "Fuck it, I'm done waiting for this douche to make up his mind"?

It's been what, like two months?

I don't think many of us are hanging on every word as to when he will come back. Sports radio isn't a big deal. I'm a big Mac fan, but I don't really care if he chooses to never come back. You'd have to be a pretty narcissistic fan to take that personally.

Yeah, I love Mac but it's been a long ass time, too much time in between any consistent radio done by him. Hate to say it buy all of his time off has hurt his chances at having a real, thorough presence on the radio at that time-slot. That's why, besides Holmes, the ratings haven't cratered....people are just accustomed to not having Mac on the air.
