I love me some gambling. I will play just about anything, especially in Vegas.

But I'll be damned if I can find 1 ounce of entertainment value in playing slots. It's really, really boring - and even when I win something I have no idea why. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.............

Wheel of Fortune is the only slot that I play. They are boring.

There's a horse running today named Good Bye Greg that I'm very high on. Will be running around 3:40 today at Saratoga Race # 9. ML Odds are 4-1, and I'm hoping he might creep up to 5 or 6. Will be putting a "few" dollars on him. :D

Had a chance to win $470 had he won, but in the end he's probably not good enough. It was just his 3rd lifetime start, going against much tougher competition and it was his first try running on the grass. Led for a little while but gave it away in the stretch. He'll be back though.

One of my twitter guys won $93k on the Pick 5 yesterday at Del Mar.

I might be able to afford the 6's at Arnies and not the 2's and 3's!

Sat next to a guy at a $10 blackjack table last night. He emptied the dealers tray of black and purple chips. He colored up for just over $23k.

The whole time he's playing, his buddy keeps saying "show him (me) the check! Show him the check!"
As he's getting up to leave he shows me a check from Caesars Palace for $103k - also from blackjack.

As I'm at the cashier, I ask her about the guy and I told her about the check and she sheepishly says "we owe him more than that, he's been here for 3 days....."

He resembled Sam zell and said he was from Fairbanks Alaska.

He probably was also in a barbershop quartet in Skokie. :)

Most I won was about $1k in a NCAA pool at work several years ago. I offset it a bit with a $300 bet on the other team on bovada or something so I would be sure to cash.

How does one make that much money at a $10 table? What was the max?

If you are ever in the San Diego area, take the time to go to Del Mar, absolutely gorgeous track.

$3,000 max

His chips were just in a giant, messy pile. He just picked out a hand full of purple/black chips every hand, put them in the betting circle, and the dealer would count out $3,000 for the bet and put the rest back on his mountain.

That surprised me too. It wasn't one of the huge resorts either.

"Won" about $8k on the Buster Douglas- Mike Tyson fight, until I learned that my bookie skipped town (apparently unable to pay up on all the action he had taken, thinking Tyson was a lock).

Best actual winnings were about $5k at blackjack at Mandalay Bay.

Hit this yesterday while trying to stay awake at Ravinia. Along with two exactas and a DD friday at Arlington, it "capped" a good weekend.

As a stock market guy, that is where most of my gambling occurs. I would make option plays on event driven companies, something like a stock that has an FDA drug decision coming out. One of my best was on Intermune where I bet the drug would fail. It was a fairly modest cost for the put options, maybe $1,000. It turned into $7,000.

I have a very similar play right now on Yahoo with the Alibaba IPO. I am already up about $6,000, and it may turn into $15,000 or so by the time Alibaba goes public in August.

If you want a tip on what we are looking at as our next play, try Kate Spade (ticker= KATE). We are pretty sure the stock is worth no more than $20-25/share. It is around $38, so we may buy some of the January 2015 put options with a $35 strike price.

Man, Yahoo is running ahead of the Alibaba IPO next week. I already cashed in half. This will be a ten bagger when it's all done. I don't mind an extra $15,000 in my brokerage account.

Seeing this on Twitter brought back good memories. I did not even know this was still in existence. 25 years ago or so I won close to $50 on a 25 cent bet on this thing.

That game is an amazing way to waste a couple of hours $.25 at a time.

Just sit and take the longshot every. single. time. :drunken:
