The Stephenson deal is for 2 years and the 3rd year is a team option. The Bulls dropped the ball on that.

Indeed. Do we even know if an offer of any kind was made?

A phone call was made to see what he was looking for. They were more interested in Parsons. In my basketball world Stephenson > Parsons. Considering the needs of the Bulls Stephenson should have definitely been their 2nd option.

If they missed out on Stephenson but got Parsons, I'd have been cool with that. But to miss both is ridiculous.

Gasol, even if he starts, is esentially a back-up. Can't play big minutes. Can't be a real scoring option anymore.

I just don;t see why they view the Gasol money as a good investment but not Stephenson...

Is he a high priced mentor for Mirotic? I really have no clue what his purpose is. He's not better than Taj and you can find a backup for less than $7M a year.

Miami obviously took a step back but they're not a lottery team. Aside from losing LBJ, they pretty much retained the personnel and coaching staff infrastructure that produced four consecutive finals appearances. There is simply too much veteran experience and know how on that roster for them to slip into lottery status, especially in the east. I think they'll get as far as the sixth or seventh game of the second round this year.

I believe they could be a 4th or 5th seed.

You aren't even trying anymore Nas. The quote below is 2 pages ago from this same thread.

They're a lottery team with Wade. :weelchairbb:

They've made additions since then. Context is very important.

No. I was describing how the Heat would be with just Wade. I was pointing out why I believed resigning Bosh was an easy decision for Miami.

Oh, we were discussing two different things then. I was discussing with Bosh and Wade, or just Bosh.

It's a done deal.

Quote:
Wolves, Cavs agree to Love trade

The Minnesota Timberwolves have reached an agreement in principle to trade Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers for No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins, 2013 No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett and a protected 2015 first-round draft pick, according to ESPN and media reports.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported Monday that the Cavs and Timberwolves have a "handshake agreement" for a Love trade. Yahoo! Sports reported on Thursday that Love has committed to to opt out of his contract in 2015 and re-sign with Cleveland next summer five years and $120 million-plus.

The trade cannot be finalized until Aug. 23.

At this point I don't know why players moving teams to play with LeBron would sign contracts longer than what James signed for. Especially in Cleveland of all places.
