I turn 40 this week and I haven't even spent $30k total in buying cars. Think I'm at $28k

Congratulations?

Some people see cars as simply necessary transportation and like to spend the minimum amount possible on it. That is fine.

Those same people then spend thousands of dollars on an 80" flat panel TV that can only do 1080p. That confuses me.

Everyone has their own hobbies and interests.

Congratulations!

i have about the same level of excitement over this as i do for the most recent robin williams movie coming out. at least if eddie murphy died i'd be like "oh damn" but this just doesn't register as !!! for me. he was kind of there for awhile then he went away and it was like "....ok then." gotta applaud his maudlin kick where he did that movie about dying and fighting through the afterlife to come back and go and make that robot-becomes-human tearjerker, but most people remember him as the nanny in drag with cake on "her" face.

oh and i guess he peaked at mork and mindy, the quintessential primetime spaceman metaphor du jour. my mom used to like that when i was a kid, but even those good vibes can't overcome the whole drag nanny with cake on her face mental image.

decent actor but probably should be considered the greatest improv guy of our time and possibly ever

His stand up was ok

Teaming him with Jonathon Winters as an alien who sleeps in a nest and hatches an octogenarian baby is about the most inspired plot in the history of television.

Made some great movies like "Good Morning, Vietnam", "The Birdcage", "Dead Poet's Society", "Good Will Hunting", "One Hour Photo", "Mrs. Doubtfire" and "Aladdin".

Played one of the most memorable TV characters of all-time in Mork from "Mork and Mindy".

Excellent post, Big Chicagoan. Though I was never a huge Williams fan, I felt very sad about his tragic passing. So sad that a man who gives people laughs for a living was so mired in depression.
To be honest, until your post and just a few others, I was beginning to believe that this board was the biggest collection of heartless assholes on the Internet with SomeGuy ("He was broke and not really working. He was on his 3rd failed marriage and totally busted.) being the head hole.
You, Big Chicagoan restored my faith in the decency of some people.

Seems like he was actually a really nice, kind-hearted person. Tons of stories of his kindness. I obviously did not know the man personally. I really enjoyed a lot of the things he did in his career. When all of Hollywood and the entertainment industry seem like a bunch of self-absorbed assholes, he was said to be the opposite. And its always unfortunate when someone like that passes away. That is why there is so much coverage of his death. People respected him and appreciated him for things that he contributed to their lives.

The world needs more Robin Williamses and less Kim Kardashians.

I'm surprised JORR hasn't shared a story about the time he partied with his friend Robin Williams.

If JORR had a Robin Williams coke story, dont you think we would have heard it by now. No way that stays buried for years. Hell, we have heard 100 times that shakes fucked some random in Brittany Payton's bed.

Hey, Steve, love your track suit but why don't you go fuck yourself. I made a comment that was pretty spot on and likely the reason for his spiral back into a seriously depressed state. Nowhere did I say that he sucked or that he wasn't funny, or that I was happy he was dead or that no one cared. I like Robin Williams, thought he had a great career and was quite funny....but it's all the same.

So next time, before you go and stupidly run your mouth and cast stones in my direction, why don't you know something and improve your reading comprehension skills.

Idiot.

Wrong...they put one or two legends like Giraldo or Jeff Ross...then fill the lineup with hacks.

What was spot on? He wasn't broke, just finished a year on a situation comedy, had two movies released in 2014 and had three movies in post-production, had two failed marriages, not three and I don't know what you mean by "totally busted." Now who was the one who stupidly ran his mouth?

They've had fine careers, but to call either of those guys legends is just silly.

They have/had careers. I can't dispute that.

Actually, you ran your mouth Steve and made a stupid statement. He took the network show (which was canceled after one season) because he was in dire financial straights and had to work, same for the shitty movies he was crapping out. He was upset that he had to take roles to pay for his massive divorce settlements and his poor financial situation. Add this with his struggle with depression and here we are, I'm not sure why you are getting so upset over all of this and hurling insults at me and denigrating my good name.

I'm the "King Asshole" because I stated reality and didn't post up a dick sucking eulogy and film/award list? Ok, I guess.

Check your shit, learn how to use the quote function or get the fuck out.

Unfair vilification of Kim Kardashian. She is a symptom of society's problem, not the cause.

All she does is fuck, hang out with her family and make money off her name. I dont know what people expect out of her.

Stand up and comedy in general is very much about timing and environment

A 1975 Robin Williams might be hilarious in 1975 but marginal in 1995.

Im not saying that's the case with your opinion, but I think if you saw him back then you might feel differently

Ya know what's funny about Ross? From what I can tell from podcasts (and these are his real life friends) he's one of the most sensitive sallies to ever come down the pipe. Cant take even a little ribbing. Thats hilarious.

Have you had much experience with depression or suicide?

Spaulding,
In March,I lost a high paying job after 21.5 years and less than a week later,I died yet right now I could say I am not depressed. I DO believe depression is an illness that should be respected as such and treated with medication if needed. On the other hand,it is hard for me to understand for folks in Williams position. Everyone is wired differently though.
