Not even close. He tops out at maybe 10% in voting one year if its a down year.

Beltre is close. He'll get in eventually but not first ballot.

Look at his numbers, if you haven't, it will be close.

Ease up Hank.

The guy has averaged 29 homers and 100 RBI over a 14 year career. Not terrible.

Better numbers than Santo, btw

I never thought Santo should be in.

I dont dislike Aramis. I thought he was a good player and I was happy he was on the Cubs. I just dont think he is HoF worthy.

I would be happy to see a name only be eligible for 3 years. First ballot guys are the no brainers, after that you have 2 years to convince people and make a case. After that you're out, your stats dont change.

Agree for the most part. But 400 homeruns is a lot.

162 game average is not a career average.

Obviously. Ill write his 162 game average is for you in the future.

The point remains.

In the last 14 years, he's missed significant time twice and in both those half seasons he had roughly half his 162 game average.

I guess this was one of those "just wanna be a dick" posts

Not relative to his era though. I couldn't say he was better than Joe Torre or Ken Boyer or even Ventura.

Too bad half of those numbers are when the Cub were up 7-0! This year actually might be his best year in terms of consistancey from day 1. I just remember too many Aprils and mays batting .189 to put him in the HOF

Not true. He was clutch as anyone in the division winning/competing years 03/04 07/08

Sandberg had slow starts too. He had ONE year, 2009, when he racked up numbers on a bad Cub team and somehow that got applied to his whole career.

He has had 2 really bad stretches this year, one he went like 2-45 before snapping out of it.

I would give Robin edge in fielding ..Aramis @ The plate...Aramis was an average third baseman with the glove...one of the best hitters in in baseball for years....lotts people liked to dog him in town, he was great when he was here...its not his fault the team sucked and was 12 games out by the end of May.

He was never close to being "one of the best hitters in baseball".
