NYS was the best stuff in the world. The raspberry and vanilla were my favorite.

Well fuck yeah; it was imported from New York ... 80's luxury.

Grew up with my parents always getting Diet Rite. FUUUUUUUUUUUCK Diet Rite. The fruit sodas were okay, but the cola was wretched. WRETCHED.

I'm a Coca-Cola loyalist myself, though I don't drink nearly as much soda as I used to. Usually Diet Coke or Coke Zero, but still, few things better in this world than a regular Coke on a hot day.

I think my Grandparents had the same case of Diet Rite in their house for 10 years. They probably never drank soda, and this was for when the grandchildren came over. Absolutely awful.

7-Up is NOT owned by Pepsi. Pepsi makes Sierra Mist. 7-Up is in cahoots w/ Dr Pepper & RC.

Haha, my grandma did that with Canfield's Chocolate Fudge. Tasted like a Tootsie Roll Pop cooked in tin foil and mixed with seltzer, but boy, that was our Special Treat.

Yeaaaahhhh. Loved Swiss Creme. Having a two-liter bottle of it fall through my grocery bag and roll down a hill was the day I decided it was time to get my driver's license.

My mom's pizza place had cherry RC because I loved that stuff as a kid. She had Pepsi (even had crystal pepsi for a while which I thought wasn't bad, but I was 12 what did I know?) and snapple too in the generic soda cooler.
She's switched to a pepsi fountain, it hasn't been the same.

Cherry RC was great. Best cherry pop out there.

Agreed.

RC is great, regardless. I was excited when Doggy Diner in Woodridge had it on tap.

My parents used to insist on bringing a Yummy variety pack after little league games. The embarrassment continues to eat away at my soul. They hoarded the Pepsi Lite for themselves.

I love grape soda. Haven't had it in years. What's remarkable about it is that it doesn't taste like grape. It tastes like purple. There can be no doubt that it tastes like purple. That's what it is. And every now and then, I really like that.

I found some Big Red at a Florida's Turnpike rest stop today, first time I've seen it in years. Had to get it. Tastes like cotton candy.

I found Faygo's red pop was similar to Big Red, but if I'm getting a pop in Michigan it's Rock n' Rye. I still can't describe it but I like it and I'm not a juggalo.

If I'm getting a pop in Michigan, I've done something horribly wrong and wound up in Michigan.

I'm sure I've related this story here before. I'm getting old like a broken fuckin' record. Anyway, this seems like the right spot to tell it again.

One night I was out with one of my good friends getting pizza at a place called LaRosa on Dempster. Well, the pizza comes out and my buddy finds a hair in it and starts going apeshit, bitching and complaining. I told him it wasn't a big deal. Just a little hair, it wasn't gonna kill him. So I asked him if he ever ate pussy. He said, "Yeah, and I'd be just as sick as I am now if I found a green pepper down there."

No love for Nehi grape? The pizza place across from my office still has fountain Royal Crown. Wish they had cherry. I loved that as a little G.
