If I found a black and white TV at a garage sale (havent looked yet) and plugged it in, is their still over the air signals to watch? I know their is HD, but is it analog? would it just be classic 2,5,7,9,11,26,32??

They did away with the analog over-the-air stuff when they auctioned off those bands of the spectrum a few years ago...everything over the air is digital now.

They do make converters.

Full-power analog signals have been off the air since 2009. However, if you stand in the right place and tune it to channel 6, you may be able to pick up The Game.

I've also read that there are some pirate signals floating around Chicago. You could look into that, because that would be cool.

So the answer to my question is that I would see nothing? except static

Saw an analog TV station for sale in the SW....so what are they doing then?

And these alleged pirate stations? Are you telling me someone is going through the hassle of producing a TV show, that maybe nobody sees?

That sounds like a Mike North Production.

I believe the adapters from digital to analog are cheap. There was a time when the government was giving them away free. They might still be

The adaptor is known as a Converter Box. So many of those were manufactured, you should be able to pick one up on the cheap. Good luck.

Low-power stations are still allowed to broadcast on analog signals until September 2015. Probably not a wise investment, though.

They're supposed to be for immigrant communities. Maybe they get programming from somewhere else, but I want to think that they're just putting on shows like Krusty did with Scorpion & Battery.

yes, I know, ....but if I didnt do that...do I just get the static or do I get the Polish daily news as CH said?

Then after 2015 nothing?

I am not buying a station for $1.5M, but still curious about it.

If these pirate stations do exist? "LIVE FROM BM'S BASEMENT", and it can be seen for 5 miles? how do you stop that in 2015? or is it Legal until then?

An analog TV station? I believe the analog frequencies have been repurposed. (Cell phones use part of the old UHL band.) So I have no idea what they're doing...

Live from Bmac's mom's basement is a great show for the Halsted community. It features an hourly money shot.
