Don't really think either of them are witty or funny. They are both life long chicago sports fans and know the backstories on Chicago sports, but the very strange thing is that dont seem to get along very well and they dont play off each other either. Tons of missed jokes by both, lotsa of insults and shots and then some bascic dead air, as they need to restart the thought.

Jarret we all know is there for one reason....well, maybe 2, but last name Payton, is the first one. He really should be one the air.

Mac, Finfer and Tiny. It's right there for you.

Let Spike try and make some midday thing, if it fails he goes back to......drive thru window voice???

Spiral, gonna need an age check on you?

Prior to Mac, Jurko and Harry the overnight on WMVP/AM 100 was Harry and Spike. Maybe 15 years ago now? I think they even tried a midday show at one time.

I think Harry Teinowitz is the only Chicago "radio personality" I ever could tolerate less than Dan McNeil.

My sports radio experience begins at The Huge Show. I was in high school when that shit was the only local WMVP show.

I used to think Finfer deserved a chance as an on-air personality, but after hearing him on The Game, I have reconsidered my position on the subject. I am surprised at how much I actually dislike him now. But maybe with Mac he would be better, as he was clearly better when subbing for Spiegal on The Score (RIP) in the past.

I am really shocked that Spike has been able to carve out a career for himself in entertainment.

If Harry, Spike and Bill Leff are examples of guys who made it in comedy, I would hate to see how hacky the bust outs must be.

Great call. Leff is so vanilla. He tries waayy too hard to be earnest. Totally WGN-y and not funny.

Spike just fake laughs at whatever lame one liner Harry makes. That show is unlistenable. Any show that showcases Harry is immediate PTFB radio.

Harry suprisingly is not that bad driving the show. Spike and JPay ruin this show. JPay should get better, but Spike is HORRIBLE on the radio. Unfunny, stupid thoughts and bad radio voice. Would also like to see Harry,Tiny and Finfer.

Spiral for you and others, for some reason Harry has been on AM 1000 for 15+ years. There was a tiem it became the THE LOOP AM, then WMVP, Then ESPN and so on. Harry ahs always been there in some capacity.

Many said it was due to his father having money, influence, investment, etc,. I have asked may about it and everyone denies it. Even those who didnt exactly love the guy.

Spike Manton is not your typical entertainer. Did a brief read of http://www.spikemanton.com. The site is filled with numerous spelling errors. Found this nugget in the references section:

Spike's jokes about the cookie business have been retold all through the company. It was a great show.
Mike Delaney, Nabisco

His material on Chips Ahoy brings the house down. And not once did he mention that "cookie" can also be a euphemism for vagina. Very family friendly.

I loved listening to Roe & Garry. My first experience with Leff was when he was brought onboard after Garry quit. I couldn't believe he was part of a top rated show in a major market. I can't imagine how bad his show with Wendy Snyder(another person that always seems to find work)is.

Yeah Harry isn't a talentless hack. He is annoying no doubt but has the ability to be on radio. Doesn't fumble around, prepares etc... If he just stopped thinking he was funny.

I loathe Harry but he preps a show and can talk. Too bad he tries to be funny and his voice is bad but he is far more professional than a lot of guys. Yeah Grimace I'm looking at you.

Ed let's go to Nels if you are in Lisle. Usually it is a little to classy there for a guy like me but to meetup I would make an exception.

I've lived in Lisle almost 20 years (button 48, please), and I just discovered that place last fall. I knew it was there but never ventured in. Loved the apple moonshine.

Name the date. I'll be there.

What about Jarrett Payton? It's football season. Time for Wally's kid to step up. Tell some tales about his cup of coffee in the NFL and CFL or some Miami Hurricane stories. Did he ever play grabass with Nevin Shapiro? This guy sounds so much like a school counselor on the radio that I forget he was on the roster of one of college football's all-time great teams.

I broke a glass in there about 15 years ago.

The bartender went to the closet, grabbed a mop and a bucket, gave it to me and told me to clean it up.
