This is not surprising. There is absolutely nothing else to do in Wisconsin except sleep with your sister/cousin, and follow the Packers.

I used to be friends with a guy who lived around Athens GA and he said he could always tell when there were Bears fans at a bar because they would never express their thoughts on any level higher than Homer Simpson-like shrieking. Something bad would happen (and it would; this would have been circa the Bad Rex/Bad Orton season) and he'd just hear "AHHHHHHH. AHHHHHH. OHHHHHH. NOOOOOOO. NOOOOOO. AHHHHHH."

As far as Packers fans go, yes, it should go without saying that the vast majority of them are uncultured simpletons by dint of being rural Wisconsinites. That being said, objectively speaking, they're better at liking their football team than we are at liking ours. First of all, their football team itself is better than ours, which naturally leads to less desperation-fueled stupidity along the lines of "we should run the shotgun more (with a center who can't snap)," "we need to be more blue-collar," and "bring back Kyle Orton, he knows how to win." But more than that, like people have already said, it's alls they gots, not just in life but even just in sports. High school sports aren't a big deal on the level of Texas football or Indiana hoops, Badger football was an afterthought until the '90s, and no one cares about the Bucks, especially once you get past Waukesha or Racine. So it's no surprise that they've had the time and means to become knowledgeable and passionate about the Packers. Now they just need time to become knowledgeable about anything else in the NFL, because every time the stupid fucking Packers lose, you'd think the sun forgot to set.

For the record, Green Bay ranked as the nation's 10th fattest city with approximately a third of its citizens weighing in as obese, according to a Gallup poll, and they're apparently making a push for top billing.

The Packers will also be unveiling a doughnut ice cream sandwich, which looks delicious, and the Bratchos — a bowl of brats, cheese and fried chips Rovell dubbed "Wisconsin in a bucket" — but The Horse Collar is the star of the show, coming in at a rough estimate of 10 billion calories.

The Blackhawks are great and the Bulls are good. The Bears will be champions this year too. When you consider the Sox and the Cubs will be WS contenders in a few years I believe the next 10 years is going to be great.

This is a debatable statement because it all depends on how far back you go into the two teams' histories. From the beginning of the 20th century, up into the 1930s, the Cubs were a proud and powerful franchise who at times were a dominant force in the National League.

This was the legendary Tinker-Evers-Chance organization, the home of Orval Overall and (later) Hack Wilson among many others. The early 1900s Cubs have been annointed a "dynasty" by sports historians. I have nothing against the Sox, but I don't recall their franchise ever garnering such high praise.
