Maybe someone mentioned this, but it never occured to me before

Under these rules the clinching play for the 2005 World Series would have been reviewed. God that would suck.

That's going to happen in a playoff or world series clincher real soon

Can you imagine if they reversed a title?

All I hear is constant whining about how the games are "too long" and then they make this change that makes the games longer. The managers quickly figured out how to abuse the system. And the irony is that they don't seem to be getting more calls right in New York than the guys in the field did.

Unlike a lot of people, I don't believe the overriding goal should be an attempt to get every call right at any cost. You're never going to have perfection anyway. Baseball is like life. Sometimes you get fucked.

Finally- and maybe one of the Little League guys can answer this- I know they have video review in the LLWS and the other night the plate ump made a bad call in the JRW game. The batter hit the ball off the handle and the umpire immediately called it a foul ball. Upon the call, play stopped and the batter walked back to the box. But it wasn't really foul. The manger came out and I think he wanted the batter to be awarded first base. That didn't happen, and I don't remember how they resolved it. I think they took a strike off the count. But that doesn't seem like the right move. Shouldn't that fair/foul call be a judgment call? I mean, you can't unbreak a glass window.
