That plate ump's strikezone got a little weird in that last inning. Those were some good pitches at the bottom of the zone he wasn't giving the kid and then he called a strike that was under the batter's chin. I could understand the pitcher's frustration. He's throwing low strikes and not getting them and if he goes up like his coach suggested that Spearman guy was liable to launch one into the next county.

I wouldn't give any close calls as the ump until the catcher knocked it off with the exaggerated or rather elongated pitch framing. A second long hold is plenty. 3-4 seconds is an eternity.

Correct. I am guessing it is a combination of ESPN wanting a set schedule and the amount of pitching needed over the two weeks.
