I have to admit, the fact that the Cubs have played .500 over 90 games is a good thing considering how low they were.

The Sox have better top line players, but they have a much bigger rebuilding job with the bullpen and at key positions. They lack the organizational dollars to spend on free agents and have a much weaker farm system. For those reasons, I would want to be in the Cubs position over the next five years.

Ricketts owes $784,250,154.26 in debt at the Cubs holding company level. After paying interest and regular expenses, the organization generated $43,256,988.23 in cash flow. They projection show about $65M in excess cash flow to invest in players per year.

So you can decide if $800M is deep in debt. You can also decide whether he is lying. On those matters, I have no opinion.
