But, if you think of these as an "investment" where the tix you sell will subsidize your playoff tickets and pay for themselves, etc., you'll get kind of screwed if they jack the face price up to the point that exceeds any real market for profit. Then you're just trading dollars and still paying your own way. You just guarantee access, not profit. Not really an investment, then, more of an annual fee for ticket rights/break-even at best.

Id think you could jack up the Yankee games and Rays games. Sawx fans are fanatical idiots

They are. They just aren't a very good investment. The teams have started pricing things to take out a lot of that profit.

You may make money if they play in the World Series, and certainly the Cubs World Series would be worth huge money, but that assumes you are going to sell them instead.

A goof I know sold his seats at Wrigley for Game 7 in 2003 because he knew they were going to lose. Then he went across the street to Bernie's and started thinking how he had to be there in case they did happen to win. So he paid more than he sold his for to buy a new one.

That's like most of the plot to the movie Draft Day.

unless the Cubs make the World Series, I'd rather not go to a playoff game. You're not subsidizing your playoff tickets. Sometimes the playoff tickets allow you to go on a beautiful Saturday.

Who wants to sit through October baseball outside? Unless, like I said, World Series.

Not entirely sure I'd be telling people I was of the mind to make notes of Larry's mispronunciations for later use; maybe I'd tell Psycory but only because his meter would be running by that point.

Do any of you guys remember Ted Cox? He was a columnist/media critic/man with hair for the Daily Hearald. Anyway, 10+ years ago he wrote a piece about the local sports stations and he called Laurence a simpleton. Stories like that are a reminder that he could not have been more correct.

Luckily for you he didn't have a grill, otherwise the story would've been how he made the recipe, then Dan saying 'It's not even that, you need to....', then Lawrence 'you're right, Dan' :pale:

Larry the love stud gave us another inside peek very early in the show. I'm surprised no one else picked up on this yet. They briefly touched on the Michael Sam shower story and Bernstein mentioned Josina Anderson who was behind the reporting.

Larry: Errrr, i think i might have to recuse myself Dan from this

Bernstein: Why

Larry: I went out on a date with her...it didn't go well. We only went out once.

Image

I wonder how soon in the "date" did Josina realize she was out on a date with Larry. She probably was conned by Larry using the, 'let's exchange Bears notes' excuse.

I'll bet emailer Joe was really nervous about whether Dan would agree with him regarding journalists being more serious about their serious jobs.

He can relax. Dan agreed with Joe's thought.

I loved it when Leary informed us that he texted 5 players to ask whether it was commonplace for teams picking the brain of a new player about his former team. He really thinks that he is a big shooter since he is supposedly chummy with all of these NFLers. He is so full of shit its not even funny. What a tool he is. How in the hell is he still on the air in the 3rd largest market in the country?? Hold on while I PTFB.

It's Veteran Beat Reporter Season. I always forget that part of Bears season.

Now, it's the "Talk about...." segment.

We're all better educated on how to be an effective beat reporter. It sounds like difficult work.

Leery said the guy's $500 donation was weak. It's only $250 more than Leery donated to JRW. You know, his team.

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't see what's so hideous about the shower question.

NFL players have often raised the issue of showering with gay players when questioned about having an openly-gay teammate. Regardless of whether there were or were not issues with Sam in the shower, it's news, isn't it? Is it really not news whether Sam's teammates treat him differently due to his sexual orientation?

And Long's tweet is just bullshit. A number of NFL players are on record saying they do care. It'd be nice if no one cared, but that's manifestly not the case. It's not heroic or insightful to say it is, it's just deceitful.

To be somewhat fair, it's not clear if the reporter asked that question or it was just offered. She should have left it alone, though. Even though she was told that I don't think it's news.

That fired up Devin Hester caller is exactly why the Score sucks now.

"That was going nowhere" - nope, that was the first interesting call I've heard today. We want to hear guys with their hair on fire about what the Bears did to Hester. But, instead of letting that guy have his say, we need to stop it. That's not an intelligent viewpoint.

A guy can have an opinion about keeping Hester. We don't have to agree with it but we could at least hear it.

They should just call it The Groupthink Afternoon Show.

I disagree. This has been an argument for years. Some said it would be a problem, others said it wouldn't.

So, now that we have an openly-gay player: is it a problem?

Edit: let me add, Berstein just said that he has no idea what the point of that line of questioning could be. I can't believe that. That's flat-out dishonesty. Everyone knows that this has been cited as a reason for not having gay players on the team for years. Dan certainly knows that. So obviously, there's a point in asking whether this is a legitimate issue or not.
