Eh, I don't even think you can mention Angelo anymore ....Emery has hsad the reigns now for sometime...there isn't one contract on this team that Angelo has saddled him with besides Briggs. I don't even think it takes balls to cut Shea loose..just brains...the guy blows..

It's not a big contract that is holding him back it's that he walked into an old as dirt team with no real solid young talent and he is tasked with a near total rebuilding.

And he had to fix the offense first. You also knew it was going to happen when Urlacher retired. Did Tucker run his defense last year or did they keep it like Lovie's to keep the veterans happy as I've read?

How long should an NFL rebuild take?
Emery has had three drafts. I think one more is fair. A solid concentration on defense next year, particularly safety and linebackers and there would be a decent rebuilt team.

So you contend that it is Emery's fault for all of the injuries on defense last year?

I think one more is fair too.

They are still going to be pretty old though after the next draft.

Missing on the defensive guys in his first draft didn't help either. It is my belief that a well coached, organized defense, even with all the injuries the Bears suffered, will produce at an average pace. I do think Lovie would have gotten average out of that bunch with the injuries. So not 17 given up like in his last year, and not 30 like Tucker's year.

I disagree. They were aging and expected to regress, but all of the injuries coupled with the loss of Urlacher is what caused a total collapse. Better drafting and coaching might have kept them from the bottom of defensive rankings, but they still likely would have been a couple of stairs from the basement floor.

Anyone could see that defense was aging quickly ...they fell apart n injuries caught up to them 1 Year later than I thought.. I just think Emery could have made a decision to blow it up n he gambled n lost...I liked his pickups but he keeps putting his fingers in the dyke...

I wouldn't have brought back ...

Well if I'm at average and you're at couple steps away from the basement then maybe we are closer in agreement than we though. I do think even a couple of stairs from the basement would have meant possibly 1-2 more wins in an 8-8 season. Without looking it up, I don't think any tier 1 defensive coach or coordinater would have ranked last in points given up. That's why even with age, injuries, etc., no way they rank dead last under a competent staff.

The Bears are old and they suck. They won't be a legit contender until they get a new GM, coach, and QB.

A decade of no maintenance and Emery comes in and tries to slather Bondo on the 73 Chevelle, then the transmission fell out. Unfortunately Emery is about as mechanically inclined as Angelo was, which is to say, they got their A*S*S (automotive service suckitude) certification from Mr. Wacker's shop class where they take apart lawnmower engines (but failed to put them back together).

"Favrefan" speaks the unbiased and unvarnished truth about the Chicago Bears!

I wonder what DiTKaAcoLYtE346 has to say about the Pack's chances this year.

I think it's concerning you never heard Khaseem Greene's name in the linebacker conversation. This is the weakest the group has been in years and a 2nd year 4th round pick never seemed to be even given consideration.

Emery's 2013 draft may end up even worse than 2012.

Yeah, I agree. Kyle Long is a good player at a low-impact position. Jordan Mills appears to be just a guy. Greene and Bostic seem to be pretty bad.

Nas says Emery had a great draft this year. We'll see. People were saying the same thing about the 2013 draft during last year's preseason. You don't hear that anymore.

I didn't personally believe Emery had a great draft. You may notice I was against several picks. Doc and GD assured me the picks were good/great. I'll take their word because they know more about it then me and GD has a great record when it comes to being right.

I don't know who's more full of shit...Briggs and Tillman, or the Russian foreign minister who said satellite video showing Russian tanks and other heavy military equipment invading Ukraine were fake and the result of a computer video game.

An obvious WYC can be asked of Emery. When he says this is a very competitive camp what is he talking about?

I think safety is the only position where competition may have occurred but I think those jobs were given in May.

Clausen took over second string QB but that is mostly because Palmer is terrible.

It could possibly be the best front 4 but I can't see how anyone could say this defense has the most talent. Peanut didn't sound like he believed it when he was saying it.

Oh ya. I feel very comfortable saying management is afraid of competition. Josh McCown was let go because they were afraid he'd outplay the changed $100M man.

McCown was given $10M over 2 years. You don't want $30M tied up in the QB position in 1 year. Besides McCown was given a spot as a starter.

Franchise and McCown's 2/10 comtract would come out to 21 or to what Cutler is making this year.

If Emery likes competition it's confusing why he's so afraid of it.

Kirkwood is right, it made no sense to guarantees Cutler that kinda money ..should have tagged him n brought back mccown. Its inevitable Cutty misses games this year..Clausen blows.
