Only 5 games behind right now. I'm feeling pretty good about this.

I don't think it helps Baez to have him playing shortstop in Castro's absence

Really... I think he would be more relaxed at SS.

He played 288 games at SS inn the minors and only 16 at second. Those 16 were all this year add in 3 MLB games at SS and 15 at second he still has 291 at SS and just 31 at second.

but SS is a far more physically and mentally demanding position

I know people act like it's some kind of difficult transition but second base is like a day off compared to shortstop. Once you get the difference in the turn on double play balls mastered, there is nothing a SS shouldn't be able to handle

take away the mental drain of SS and let him concentrate on hitting by playing 2B

See thats why you trade this fucking piece of shit. No hustle out of the fucking box , head not in the game as usual. Still making these dumb fucking mistakes , not learning at all. Should be standing on second representing the tying run.

Kaplan went ape shit crazy on this play. He and Herb Lawrence were getting into it on Twitter.

Kap is right. This even isn't a "hustle play". It's just fundamental play.

Castro is A #1 trade bait. He just doesn't have the mentality you want on a young team.

Castro, Baez and Edwards for Stanton.

Or put Schwarber in for Baez.

@DavidHaugh: Look forward to @KapandHaugh cuz unlike partner I'm not ready to rip a 24-yr-old for mental error week after 4 loved ones tragically killed.

It's on.

Does Haugh really want to argue that he didn't run because he's still distraught over his personal tragedy?

I agree that's horrible but that's got nothing to do with your baseball instincts. You've played baseball for 20 years. You connect with the ball and the muscles take over. You're not thinking.

Everyone on Twitter is saying the same thing Ken. Give him a break, personal tragedy . blah blah.

Problem is it shouldn't happen at all. If the Cubs are 1 game out and this is the Cardinals, still the same " give him a break, it was just a mistake " reaction ?

I wonder how many times Jackie Robinson's head would've been up his ass instead of in the game if he'd ever had to deal with off the field issues.

I think Starlin signed his own ticket out of town on that play and the one before.

You hustle on every play, because you dont know which one will be fucked up. It's simple and at this point Starling now has too many examples of routine plays, that other teams botched and he would be safe or on second if he ran hard.

He does that flop trot jog shit on every ground out or fly ball.

Also, they have a better SS, who is at 2B!

I will take a leadoff, top flight CF for Starlin.

I said it several years ago: you don't want your prospects becoming comfortable with organizational indifference to game results. When your administration tells you, implicitly and explicitly, that these games don't matter, you start to believe that these games don't matter.
