If the league is so worried about it's image why the fuck does it broadcast stories like this?

Also there is some weird inverted race angle to this story (though I suppose it would be mitigated somewhat if a scrub was the one who got pinched rather than Welker). Josh Brent kills a fellow team mate while driving drunk and few people bat an eyelash. Wes Welker does Molly at the Kentucky Derby and peoples' balls shoot up into their throats.

I do not get this. Brent was a story and went to jail?

The entire perception of drugs in this country is mind-boggling. NFL punishments highlight it.

Is it about race or the drugs? I had to google to see whether Josh Brent was black; I figured some drunk-driving dipshit out of U of I had to be a cracker. We've always been loath to drop the hammer on drunk driving because the next drunk driver could be one of us. Molly is a strange and foreign Other that could turn people into mush-brained rave-dancing face-eating monsters as per the network evening news.

Bingo. People fear what they don't understand.

I'm going to say a bit of both. If Stevie Johnson gets busted for the same shit Wes Welker does it's far less outrage and more, "well it was bound to happen". Dare I say Welker is a victim of his own White Privilege.

I disagree. If anything, black + exotic drugs will cause even more outrage. Remember PCP?

I know what you're saying but people don't use finished-product meth as a precursor when synthesizing MDMA. And the ingredients/recipe/process for
synthesizing MDMA is different than for street meth.

Pure molly/MDMA tends to be kinda dopey, esp compared to old school MDMA pills/rolls. So people cut it with a bit of speed
to give them energy to dance/fuck/watch a horse race/post all night on CSFMB.

Could be that the NFL tests for meth/speed but not for MDMA/molly? also, MDMA leaves your system very quickly, tho I would think meth would as well.

I'm not understanding the Race issue ...I see no race issues in this story. I assumed Brent was white also, never saw a pic of him.

The only strange is how they kept this quiet for so long.

For the life of me, I had to ask my then 11th grade son(back in the spring) what in the hell "molly" was, now I read this and really worry what I missed.

I think people understand it just fine. It just is bad. For some reason, it has somehow become wrong to think any drug is bad even when it is justifiable to say it is.

When I was in high school and college, people said ecstasy was "safe" too.

I dont think Leash meant it like it sounded.

I mean of course people are gonna be a little more timid about things/substances they've never tried vs things they have. I think that's all he's saying. What Curious said about Drunk driving is right.

It always puzzles me why you believe you are the authority on which drugs are bad and which ones are okay, or as you like to say, "moral".

The information is easy to find and I can make an informed opinion on it and then share it.

I don't think I'm an authority on drugs more than I think I'm an authority on vaccines or the Bears. I gather information created by people smarter and more qualified than me and I make a determination based on the evidence.

Is there ever any agenda that drives which drugs society considers "moral"?

Molly is in your system for only 2-3 days ..like blow or meth...what are the odds of getting a piss test in that small window .

Don't pick and choose when you go after my "moral drugs" thing. You've treated it like the joke it is plenty of times before.

Crystal meth is bad.

So are caffeine and corn liquor.

Are you saying caffeine is a bad drug?

I don't know what corn liquor has to do with anything. I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone drink it.

Meth is probably the worst drug in the country ..its cheap n more addictive than others...it keeps users up for days n weeks ..Nobody can make an argument that Meth should be legal.
