No.

Yes. This is absolutely true. Instead of just typing an uninformed one word response, do some research and see that there was a time they were thought of as virtually the same thing.

Yes. If you think that lawmakers care more about public safety than their own special interests than you are insane.

If cocaine was more profitable for them, they would have gone with cocaine.

Im not sure you understand how similar cocaine and caffeine are in their natural states.

The delivery and stigma make a big difference. Caffeine comes in a morning drink rather than being snorted in its purest form.....like cocaine.

You could easily deliver a small amount of cocaine in a better vessel and people would have drank that shit up

So what? That was just ignorance about cocaine. There is no way that we would live in a world where cocaine was legal and caffeine wasn't. Both may have been banned but that wasn't what you said.

This is the part where I ask if you are saying that cocaine is basically equal to caffeine, and then you tell me that you aren't.

This is why I turned down the chance to get into this before.

Unless of course you are saying that cocaine is basically equal to caffeine, which you aren't.

Ecstasy is MDMA. Molly is an MDMA analogue but people are just calling anything that fucks you up "molly" because no one knows what they're taking.

Gotcha... Hopefully if my kids decide to try bad shit, they stick to alcohol, weed and caffeine. At least I understand that.

Did you figure out what Molly had to do with anything, or is she being mis-labeled?

So you turned it down because in your world "not identical" = "not alike in any way shape or form"

Its way closer than people think between the two drugs. Waaaay closer.

Like I said one of them is regulated and delivered through a morning beverage. The other is snorted.

At their core, they are not nearly as different as some people would like to believe.

What do you think the difference is?

No. Both would have been banned, unless of course you think there are justifiable reasons why cocaine is better for you, but you don't.

I'm not going to spend time arguing against something you don't honestly believe. You don't think they are pretty much the same thing. Of course there are some similarities. They are both stimulants.
rogers park bryan wrote:

This is another issue. You state they are similar and then expect me to answer how they are different.

I just grow tired of this whole debate, though obviously I'm continuing it. Either say that caffeine and cocaine are basically the same thing, or say they aren't basically the same thing. If they aren't basically the same thing, then don't argue when I think that cocaine is worse than caffeine. It is that simple.

Gotta love arguing with Rick

Rick: Do you think X?

Me: Yeah, I kinda do

Rick: No you dont and im not gonna spend time arguing it

Me: Ok then, good talk

Like I said, they are very similar. When you strip them down to their purest states, the only difference is one of them directly effects the mind.

And as always, its not black and white. Its not Cocaine is worse or its not. Some act like Cocaine is literally the devil in powder form. Some dont think its that bad. There are levels.

I agree this is a very unimportant silly debate in the grand scheme. Ive lost interest for the day.

I've given you plenty of times to actually stand behind that they are basically the same. You don't "kinda do" then because you won't.

You might as well just say your point is "they are both stimulants" which doesn't really say much.

I'd say the way if effects the mind would be a pretty big difference. However, you don't for some reason so then just type out this statement:
Cocaine and caffeine are basically the same thing.

As usual, Rick wants to set up narrow black and white parameters when we live in a world of gray

Either Cocaine and Caffeine are identical or complete opposites.

There are more similarities than saying "they're both stimulants"

I dont think they are the same. I think they are similar. Im sorry that answer doesnt satisfy your perpetual need to file everything into no more than two possible answers.

No. That is just dumb. I admitted there are some similarities. Remember, you are the one going after me for thinking that caffeine is better for you than cocaine. It is on you to then think that is a wrong statement.

Ok. So you think cocaine is worse than caffeine too! Do you see why I avoided this discussion before?

I'm being told I am wrong by a guy who won't even say that what I think is wrong. I've never said there aren't some similarities. Any stimulant will have similarities. That is what makes them both stimulants.

This is why before I said that it is simply your default position on this subject to want to argue with me. When I ask you simply to say my thought is wrong you won't. You just bring up some side point that doesn't really do anything to say that my actual idea is wrong.

Its not dumb. Its accurate.

I havent gone after you. I made a post about similarities and you responded with uninformed one word answers.

Is this a bit?

Are you playing into the black/white thing now?

Let me explain something to you that you dont apparently understand

I can think Cocaine is more dangerous than Caffeine and still think that some people waaay overstate the difference.

Your posts here suggest you dont see that as a possibility

This is why the black and white label is accurate.

Doesnt matter what the subject is, you post loaded questions with only two possible answers that have nothing to do with the point. (I never said Cocaine was safer or as safe. I said they are similar.)

Ok though. I'll take your last post at face value.

You think cocaine is more dangerous than caffeine. So do I. This settles it all and explains the reasons why the two are treated differently.

I never said one was more dangerous than the other. Im not sure why you're assigning an opinion to me that I never expressed.

My comment is that the difference between the two drugs is wildly overstated.

Your responses here and their tone (omg, why are we even discussing this) confirm my hypothesis.

EDIT: I love that I said I posted that they are similar and you quoted me saying they are extremely similar as if that's such a big difference.

Rick, do you understand that its possible to think there is a difference between two things, but the difference between those two things is widely exaggerated?

Secondly, do you understand that the difference being smaller than most think, doesnt mean the difference ceases to exist?

this is silly. chronic cocaine use is definitely bad for your health. 100% of doctors will tell you that. chronic caffeine intake makes you piss a lot.

BIG difference.

Who said anything about chronic use?

The main difference is the euphoria created in the brain. To me, the difference is not that great. I would say one bump of cocaine is like drinking a pot of coffee or a Triple espresso whatever bullshit

I honestly don't understand what you are trying to get me to agree with here. I don't think they are "extremely similar". You do, but you don't, but you do, but you don't.

I guess I'm just struggling to find what statement or idea I'm supposed to be defending here. You keep on flipping back and forth too. Now, 5 cups of coffee = one bump of cocaine = 8oz of espresso. You have to understand my confusion here when I see that a standard menu at Starbucks equals a bump of cocaine.

Anyways, my stance is that caffeine is better for you than cocaine by a noticeable margin. Either disagree with me and tell me why or agree with me.

Why don't people snort caffeine all the time though? Clearly, drug users choose one over the other for some reason. I'd think it would be a lot easier and cheaper to get caffeine too.

There is more chemically going on with cocaine compared to caffeine, especially with the brains neurotransmitters/dopamine and the feedback cycles associated with each. Caffeine is cardiac.

If we are talking legit coke vs caffeine? Cocaine over the long term (heavy use) would probably be worse compared to drinking coffee every day over the long term.

Acute use? Get some pure caffeine tabs and take a bunch of them....you'll probably die in short order.

It a question of why do you use it and what do you use it for? Plus the comparisons of how much caffeine is = to how much blow etc is tough to nail down.

Thank you. Sounds pretty different to me.

Probably, just like aspirin or 312player's favorite danger, water.
