Which would you pick if you were being treated? I've been to Gibsons, Smith & Wollensky, and Chop House. Any thoughts on the others? Thanks!

David Burke's is excellent. Dry-aged meat. Somewhat different sides. Had a $600 meal for 3 last spring but it was well worth that guy's money.

Steak houses are so expensive but so delicious. For mood and all the other things as well as food I would go Gene and Gergetti if it is still open? Smith and Wolensky is very good as is Ruth Chris but those are all over country. If you are SW there used to be a place called Bogart's in old Tinley Park.

Best Ribeye I ever had was at Ruth's Chris.
Best Prime Rib I've had was at Mortons.

David Burke's is great. Caveman Steak & Eggs, awesome! Smith & Wollensky is my regular spot. September 15, Wine Week! The thing is, those aren't really Chicago places. I want to like Gene & Georgetti's, but it's too clubby and I'm not in the club. Next best thing is Erie Cafe. Like Gene's but without the douchey attitude. My man Sascha at the bar will hook you up.

Kinzie Chophouse by the Mart is fine. My personal favorite is The Palm at Swissotel. Nice pens.

You cant go wrong with any of the steak joints that have been mentioned here. Sure, RC, S&W, & Mortons are all national chains, but they are great. Whatever you do, stay the hell away from The Weber Grill. Terrible food, terrible decor, terrible servers & service.

Kinzie is pretty good. The broad that runs it also has a private wine club next door called The Wine Huntress.

If you have never been to gene and georgettis, it's a good steak with some good sides. Very old school.

Del Friscos is excellent, very cool place, huge, thus always seats....it's just too expensive.

Will never return to Ruth chris, the smell of burnt butter throughout the place is disgusting.

Question remains of who you are going with for this dinner?

family dinner, Mortons is excellent.

going with friends, Hugos, great call...

Business, Capital Grille..............my call.....great sides, great place.

David Burkes just doesnt impress me. Been there 3 times and I am not going to say it is bad, just a notch below the others for some reason.

Kinzie is solid, but also a notch below the others.

You almost cant go wrong.

I love Joe's so I would pick that place.

III Forks, Del Frisco and Chicago Cut are all good too.

I don't believe I've ever had a steak in my life but I love Morton's swordfish. I still can't make it the right way myself.

I'm partial to Gibsons.

Chicago Prime out in Schaumburg does a damn fine job as well.

The original Morton's is great. The naperville one? Meh. Gibsons/Hugo's. Ok I guess. It isn't bad. There is a place in Oak Brook called Grotto. I enjoy their steaks. Capital? Formulaic and over priced for what it is IMHO. Sullivan's has been hit or miss.

I was very pleased with the ambience and cut of meat I got at the River North location.

Randomly, Tommy Lasorda was in there dining a few tables over, and after he overheard that it was my birthday, he came over and shook my hand and whipped out a baseball and signed it on the spot. He was really hamming it up, really working the room. Super nice guy in person.

I kid you not, he literally grabbed it out of his pants pocket. I thought about it later, and wondered if he only had one, or how many he had in there

I don't know if he was comped, he said he was in town for his induction in the Italian American HOF
