Never thought I would be able to say that the Illini look better on defense than the Bears.

Hypothetical Jay Cutler had a pretty good game!

I said many times I was a huge Cutler fan but he disappointed me. I remember him playing at a high level in Year 2 under Martz with very few weapons. I am excited to see what he can in Year 2 under Trestman with great weapons. It isn't an act.

I'm giving you an out here. Take it and run.

I don't need an out. We have at least 15 more games to go. If we still see the same things I will be the first to come here and say that I was wrong.

Predict Cutler's numbers for this year since you seem to be all in on how good he was.

I would just like that point out-- while I don't think it was a big deal to miss a practice-- that Lance Briggs had a shitbox of a game yesterday. I don't think I heard his name called once.

Jay Cutler didn't have a bad game. He looked good for the most part until he was forced to trust guys that just came off the street and don't know the offense.

We don't have 1 good linebacker. That's a problem.

Not really, our safeties can pick up the slack.

He did not look good for the most part. He looked really good on the first drive. After that, he was more bad than good against a team that probably sucks.

The team is bad. The pass D for Buffalo is probably good. Graham played well enough in relief and their D last year was top 5 against the pass.

All the more reason Forte should have gotten more carries.

3rd quarter? 2nd quarter before Marshall fumbled and before Bennett didn't look for the ball? Game tying drive (that had multiple pass interference penalizes that weren't call)?

Yes. Our quarterback did complete some passes. How low are you setting the bar?

Trestman didn't have his best day. I have no idea why he called those plays on the 2nd drive. The 3rd down call that resulted in an interception was a bad play. He called timeout to make that call. I wish he would have fed Forte more in overtime. Especially after he had a 12 yard gain on the first play.

Calling out the refs when they gifted the Bears many calls and picked up flags is lunacy.

The reason Jay Cutler doesn't improve year after year is not because he is dumb or doesn't possess the physical tools, it's because he does not want to change and frankly doesn't give a shit.

This is his last stop before becoming a journeyman backup and he will ride out this contract and may even retire after it's over.

Jay knows he has the Bears over a barrel and ownership/management is so rife with stupidity that he can do whatever he damn well wants to.

He knows his flaws but does nothing to change them.

Agree except for the journeyman part. I don't want to agree, but there's absolutely no evidence to dispute it.

I figured it out, guys. Cutler is just unlucky. He averages about 20 interceptions a year, all of which are the fault of his receivers.

Beyond that, Cutler should have had about 3 more interceptions yesterday.

I also noticed that Devin Hester, who Cutler apologists claim was always in the "wrong place," had 5 catches for 99 yards yesterday. How can that be?

I didn't see it but he might have been being used properly. He wasn't a #1 and it was clear when he was here, he didn't know what was going on.

This is a great point too. Why couldn't our offensive genius head coach and our qb who is in the same class as Cutler get production out of Hester?

last series in regulation, 2nd and 1 from the Bills 19 with :45 and 2 timeouts

GET THAT FIRST DOWN AND A SET OF NEW DOWNS. THEY ARE CONCEEDING THE SHORT YARD RUN. Instead, we pass twice and kick a field goal. This felt like the Viking game with the early kick.

Hang this loss 70% on Cutler and 30% on Trestman.

The defense sucks. We knew this. They allowed 23pts. That might be the lowest total they allow all season... Offense needs to win the games and Cutler played with his head up his ass for too many stretches in that game. The pick to the DT was just inexcusable. Trestman didnt help matters with that stupid ass 2nd drive play calling and going away from the run when Forte was having his way with the defense. Go fuck yourself and stop trying to be cute. Keep doing what works, how fucking hard is that?!?

And the refs in this game were just terrible. I know it was a rookie but this guy shouldnt get another chance. Awful. I'd be even more pissed if I were a Bills fan. Picking up flags, calling PI when it doesnt exist, not calling it when it does... Just sloppy and bad.

Make sure and count the dropped interceptions if we're going with non pass interference penalties.

I've feel like I've seen one ref throw a flag and then they huddle up another official had a better angle and overrules it. That didnt seem to be the case there. The guy threw the flag and then said never mind.

I've never seen it on a hold. That seems pretty clear-cut.

Seems like it would be hard for another ref to come in from a different angle and tell you that he wasn't really holding him.

Flea Flicker?
Really. A Flea Flicker. When I saw that I knew this game was over. Or at least the game plan was.
A Flea Flicker.
That was the moment I lost my faith in offensive genius Trestman.

Flea Flicker. You gotta be.... BLEEPING ME.

Plus, it was the worst looking flea-flicker of all time. Forte acted like the ball was a hand-grenade. Granted, the middle of the line was in the process of being blown-up so there wasn't much he could have done to sell it.

Also, what was with the reverse-Statue of Liberty play, where Jay runs like his hair is on fire to get the ball to Forte while they let the line attack him. It was kind of effective, but it looks insane and prone to lead to a fumble at some point.

How about those sprint isolation draws (don't I sound like Bernstein)? They worked yesterday, but once teams catch on, someone is going to blast through and have a Cutler/Forte sandwich.
