I think even he knows it, which is why he prioritized the restaurant opening. I hope he can at least have a few flashes of former greatness during the year but expect a low quality level of play through 16 games (if he even makes it 16)

I hope he's happy with his contract this year.

I'm sure he looks around at the other LB stiffs on the roster and thinks "I'm still better than these guys. Why should I quit now?"

You weren't convinced last season when Rodgers juked him out of his shoes on GB's game-winning drive?

This. Briggs is 75 years old and out of shape but he's still the best they have.

Which is pathetic. He looks as bad as Urlacher did his last year.

Urlacher could at least hobble to the right spot. Briggs and Tillman are out of position and I'm positive Tillman got a concussion yesterday.

Don't worry. I saw a lot of positives yesterday: Nobody died (that we know of), everybody ran in the right direction (for the most part), and Cutler only made a couple kids cry in the parking lot after the game.

This is by no means a shocker to anyone.

One thing I will always give Angelo credit for is admitting how hard it is to Scout your own backyard.

My favorite college player in the 2014 NFL draft was Alabama LB CJ Mosley & I really wanted the Bears to take him as the successor to Briggs. All he did in his Baltimore debut was lead the Ravens in tackles with 5, 2 assists & 1 PD. The Bears will regret not taking CJ.

You didn't like what Kyle Fuller did yesterday?

Is that his name?

Yeah that Shae gave him. His only hit of the day was on Tillman.

Ummm...no. I believe that CJ is going to be one of the top LB's in the NFL. But who knows? We'll see.

It really is sickening how much help they need on defense. After we cut Jared Allen, we will need another DE. I think the only position that we can wait a year or two to address is DT (and that group isn't any world beaters either).

Anyone else see Briggs got hammered at the end of the first quarter on that block and fly back five yards stumbling. It was embarrassing.

This thread got me excited at first glance. I thought Briggs retired.

In order from his Website

FATHER - OK, should be first, but I dont care about that and dont need to profess it on a website. It is the ultimate GIVEN.
COMMENTATOR - Not sure where he commentates? I assume someone pays him for a TV or radio show....and they want a refund now.
PHILANTHROPIST - Thank you
COOKING ENTHUSIAST - "We have a 34 year old restaraunter as a Middle linebacker"
COMIC BOOK WRITER - Hey Lance, the story part of the comic books isnt the tough part!
BEAR - Questionable at this point

He's got "I don't give a f%*@" written all over his face. It was obvious in that press conference after his day off/restaurant opening. When he spoke of Coach Trestman, he would only say; Trestman... not Coach, Marc or Coach Trestman. Only "Trestman". IMO, I don't think Briggs likes Tresty.

Mannely has given the "I know Lance and thats not true"

No doubt he is collecting the check.

Do I think he plays as hard as he can on game day and tries, yes.

But I dont think he prepared for the year in the physical sense and it shows in every move.

He had 50lbs on the guy and was running downfield. He got bounced worse than conte did with the stiff arm. The guy is done. You said in a later post yeah I am sure he does give full effort in the game but the skills just aren't there anymore. Time passes us all by

If he can have a few good games, maybe you get a 6th rd pick for him....yes, very maybe I know....but if he isnt the focus of another teams defense, he could be very effective for a team making a playoff run like Denver.

Briggs? Sorry Biggie I don't see anyone trading for him. MLB? Yes. NBA? Yes. NFL? No. Not saying it doesn't make sense but rarely works out in the NFL. The WNBA has a more exciting trade deadline. Not even sure they have one. Still more exciting.
