Pushing this dude...hard

Not sure how I feel about this guy.

He's an awesome player but he seems a little too good of a guy. Suspiciously always says the right thing, etc

He'll probably murder someone at some point

But for now, he's great to watch

He is from Pewaukee and I have never heard anything negative about the guy at any point and time. He works out in the offseason at a place about 25 minutes from where I live and has 2 brothers that play at UW.

Definitely an athletic freak. This isn't new, buy pretty impressive for a guy his size. By all accounts
a really nice and genuine guy. Clip is only 10 seconds long

Watt is probably the best defensive player in the league for 3 years now...Urlacher was never even the best linebacker .

I don't understand the whole "substitute a defensive player at the goalline" thing. It was kinda cute with the Fridge, but it just looks dumb now. I don't understand why they did this with Watt.

And if I was a tight end who blocked my butt off the whole drive, got down to the goalline, and they subbed in a "D" player to catch the easy playaction TD pass, I would be pissed. It might even mess with some of these guys contract incentives. Bad, bad, bad.

You are better than this.

He was actually a TE until he got to wisconsin. Also played just about every sport in high school. He's a great athlete, might as well use him.

Unless he's actually a better option and he would be starting ahead of them if not for his defensive duties being more important

Urlacher was Superman for a few years. That's what Watt is now. IMO, there's kind of a ceiling that they both reached

They both affected the game in ways their position traditionally didnt (Urlacher's insane coverage abilities and Watt's batted down passes prowess)

Watt has a long way to go to be better than Urlacher. So far he seems to be on a pace to surpass him though.

Watt is not even in the conversation with Urlacher yet. Maybe he will get there, but not yet.

Dude is a freak tho. There was a story out about him showing up to their workout complex at like 4am the morning after signing his big deal. That is insane.

I can see your point, but I find it hard to believe. If he were a full-time TE, maybe he would be starting ahead of the current guy. But he's not, and the current guy has to run those plays all the time with the offense, and he knows the nuances around how long to hold his block before releasing and how deep to run his route.

For me, the bottom line is that on that particular play, you can throw anyone with any amount of athletic ability out there, and if they sell the block well enough, it's a TD. I don't see the point in having your star DT do it. And if I were an offensive player, I would find it to be aggravating.
