You don't believe in any dynamic of being on the road at that stadium that has accounted for the Bears repeated losing performances there? Sure every game is a new turn of the wheel, but the negative trend against for the Bears in San Fran is undeniable.

Nope, and certainly not when the sample size stretches out over thirty years. Absolutely not. It's a mental construct. In-season struggles against particular teams or in particular stadiums make sense, but the struggles of two (or more over the years) different Chicago teams thirty years apart from each other are not related in any way.

Bears come firing back. The 49ers didnt look great against the Cowboys. Bad luck on a fumble return for TD and an INT return back to the 2yd line. I think the Bears will squeak out a huge win.

Bears typically lose on Sundays and Mondays.

Its a new stadium. Neither team has ever played a regular season game there. Unless you think just the team being in Northern California affects them somehow, in which case I would say that's pretty stupid.

I'm talking about the trend over thirty years, which has been negative for the Bears. My point was that even in the best case with the '84 Bears, which is probably the strongest Bears team ever to have gone into San Francisco, they could not come out with a win. Granted that the 49ers had Montana back then, but still. From that trend, it's reasonable to conclude that Bears teams don't play well there period.

This is idiotic. The 49ers happen to have had outstanding teams in the 80s and 90s. That is why the Bears didnt play well there.

They're still going to be 60k to 70K screaming San Francisco fans or no? And the fact that it's a night game is a double whammy with Cutler's diabetes. :D

There are 60-70K screaming fans at every road game (except Jacksonville). The Bears record against the 49ers isnt because they cant play in the city of San Francisco, its because the 49ers are one of the best franchises of the last 30 years.

The Bears '85 team is considered the best of all time by many. The '84 team was constituted largely the same. Fortunately, the '85 team didn't have to go through San Francisco to get to the Superbowl or otherwise it might have turned out differently. Who's being the idiot?

But there's not 60K to 70K screaming niners fans in Jacksonville, they're in San Francisco. And agreed about San Francisco being a good franchise. Doesn't a good franchise team playing at home in front of 60K to 70k screaming niners fans help them?

Nope. It was because the defense didn't get touchdown support.

So the 49ers fans are louder? Better? I dont get what you are saying here....

The '84 team was playing Steve Fuller at QB and got kicked.

The '85 team went in there and Ditka stuffed it up Bill Walsh's ass. And The Fridge was born.

And the 85 bears DID win on the road in SF...

10/13/1985

Chicago Bears

San Francisco 49ers

Candlestick Park (San Francisco, CA)

W 26-10

I would like to highlight attendance was only 60,523 for that game. Conservatively we can say at least a 1,000 Bears fans were in attendance. I bet if 60,000 NINER fans were there they'd have won.

So only the greatest Bears team of all time has ever won in San Francisco in modern times. Thank you for proving my point.

From Wikipedia on that game:

Nine months after their humiliating defeat at the hands of the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, the Bears claimed their revenge by sacking Joe Montana a then-career high seven times.[8] In return for 49ers coach Bill Walsh's idea of sending in lineman Guy McIntyre in as fullback the season before, Mike Ditka sent in rookie William Perry in, but as a runner, rather than a blocker.[8] Shortly after the game and the flight back to Chicago, Ditka was arrested for DWI.[29]

As of 2013, this is the last time the Bears have won in San Francisco. 8)

I think that is actually the last time the Bears won @SF. The few times its been fucking terrible. Kordell Stewart couldn't do anything, then Terrel Owens caught like 31 passes, and last time Cutler threw 5 picks.

And before people start talking about the jet engine crowd up in Seattle, lets remember that the reason for the recent success is a bad ass defense. Loud crowds are nice but the team has to be good for it to make a difference.

They won in Candlestick in 76, 78 and 79. They also won in Kezar Stadium plenty of times in 50s and 60s.

The Bears didnt win there after 85 because the Niners were usually loaded with good players.

I'm not trying to prove anyone's point. I was just highlighting that the '85 team that played them was much different than the '84 team.

No, it's exactly what you said, the combination of a historically solid franchise playing at home with home field advantage in front of 60K to 70K screaming gay fans.

Wrong . History has no bearing on the outcome of games played thirty years apart from each other .
