Wrong . History has no bearing on the outcome of games played thirty years apart from each other.
The common denominator explaining the Bears suckage versus San Fran is that the Bears still have the same bad ownership for 30 years that has been too cheap to get a real coach since Ditka and too cheap to hire competent general managers who have the ability to find and acquire good players consistently. Wrong again.
The Bears got lucky with Lovie, who turned out to be a good coach, but even he was a cheap hire when they signed him.
Lovie was a good coach, just to antiquated on the defensive philosophy when the NFL changed. He needed Tresty to be his offensive coordinator. Emery is worse than Angelo. Whole slew of problems.
It's unconscionable that the Bears could hire a guy in Emery without any previous GM experience after the disaster that was Angelo (ex-Urlacher), any team building experience and any experience picking coaches. And look what we got for a coach? An old NFL reject trying to hang on to his career in the graveyard that is the CFL. The rationale behind the hiring of Emery was that he had a lot of experience as a scout and that would translate to good drafting, but his strength has turned out to be a weakness. The fact that Emery chose a white guy from Boise St. as opposed to a black guy from Alabama, Florida, Florida St., Ohio St. or USC was a red flag to begin with. And I don't mean that facetiously, it's the honest truth. You simply have a better chance of getting better players from those top schools, where there's no need to look at a guy from Boise St. in 1st round. His second 1st round pick in Long was just as much of a joke, choosing a projected guard with hardly any football experience. Long might still be a good player, but there's no way to justify that pick either as high as the Bears took him. And the worst mistake he's made was signing Cutler to a long-term deal at 31 without him ever proving that he's a winner beyond the regular season. Besides those two shitty linebackers you drafted in the 2nd round, you could have drafted a quarterback with an eye on the future. We still have yet to draft a quarterback in any top round since Cutler has been with the Bears.
