What added to the moment was that--and apparently unbeknownst to Spiegel--the station aired a commercial featuring Ditka during the break following Spiegel's commentary about Ditka.

I know. Real rarity these days. Oh Ditka said something we don't agree with. It's like when my neighbor called me a negro when I visited her in the dementia ward because I was tan. You just ignore it. No one pays attention to the guy seriously and hasn't since the Ricky Williams draft.
