having been hit/punched/smacked by men, women, etc, majority of men don't hit very hard and no woman--whom i've encountered--hits hard enough to be a concern to warrant retaliation. Not even the stripper from King of Diamonds who ended up back at my hotel room in downtown St Paul and playfully on a dare pulled back and popped me in the nose closed-fisted as hard as she could. Luckily there were 2 beds in the room, as I bled profusely all over the one we were in.

For the record I've never hit a woman. I can't even bring myself to whack my cat or my dog (back when I had one) with a newspaper or anything. Fuckers know when you're pissed anyway. No sense making it afraid of you.

I'm wondering if women should be given a free license to physically assault a man with no fear or repercussions simply because they're women. I'm not talking about giving the wife a black eye for burning the roast.

I mean if a woman with say rings on was taking swings at you you'd take the shot or what? Restrain her?

Obviously knocking her out cold is going way too far. But I don't know that a man has no right to self defense either.

I would caveat that if a woman gets violent with you repeatedly, having zero consequences (not talking physical consequences here, just some post-violent episode conversation or something) for her is probably not the right move.

I had a live-in gf get violent with me once a month for about 6 months in a row and I would initially laugh it off and eventually bug out and leave the house whenever she would get that way. maybe because I wouldn't respond/retaliate to her punches and kicks, she escalated and eventually started throwing shit at me. I ended up in the ER (mostly wanted an excuse not be alone at home with her) after she launched a candle and then ripped the small shelf it was on off the wall and chucked that at me. I jumped up to avoid the wooden shelf, came down awkwardly on it with one foot and crashed to the floor with a messed up knee/ankle. That seemed to wake her up and the once-a-month violence stopped after that.

Note: I wouldn't do anything to precipitate these episodes. Usually I or she would just get home from work and they'd happen. They turned out to be related to woman/reproductive issues.

Fuck that....Spitting in someone's face is disgusting, it can transmit diseases . Its about as nasty a thing you can do to someone.

I think the only time it would be even close to OK is if she is literally trying to beat or kill you-- closed fist punches, kicks, etc, or she is coming at you with a weapon-- and you hit her once or push her down, just to stop things.
