Certain Distant Suns was a pretty big deal to me and my friends as we all knew (or knew of) Justin Mroz given they were from Fox Lake.

Yeah, both my brother and myself played for CDS in it's many iterations at one point or another.
My brother was with them for a awhile, and I remember getting in a van, drinking screwdrivers all the way to Kansas City, playing a show,
then sleeping in the van, and the next day we played in Okoboji, Iowa, and driving home all night after the show so I could make it to my sisters HS graduation.
in Waukegan. This would've been in 1996.
Drank so much over those few days that my throat literally felt like I was swallowing razor blades for days after.
Good times.

It always shocks me when I find hum fans. It is always so unlikely.

Unfortunate, we may lack in numbers, but we are still mighty.
And Electra 2000, YPAA, and Downward are 3 of my all-time favorite albums.
Indispensible.

Charlemagne Palestine - Strumming Music

Quote:
Disc One features "Strumming for Bösendorfer Piano", performed by Palestine in 1974. It starts out gently, with a little innocuous tinkling, but over the course of 52 minutes locks into a flurry of reiterated notes and chords that churn out different kinds of overtones. The sounds of those overtones are ethereal, ineffable. But overtones are concrete and real, and Palestine starts to play in reaction to them-- creating still more overtones, until the effect turns into a kind of natural acoustic feedback loop. There's nothing dainty or implicit about it. Palestine is a notably physical presence whose way of playing-- of coaxing by way of banging-- invokes the piano's status as a fundamentally percussive instrument. But there's something innately ghostly about the sounds that surface, like bleary trumpets in a dream or whirring test-tones heard from a distance.

Title track has the simplest bass line, but it is so bad-ass.

I love Nick Cave. Just a talented guy. His books and couple movies are decent too. Actually the proposition is really good IMHO. Lawless was ok not bad. I have some good video I shot of grinderman.

I was getting tired of people talking or singing. Words word words. Just typed orchestra into spotify. Very peaceful. Hatchet or CH could probably tell me if the album is actually any good.

My 2xLP finally came in the mail today, 4 months after I pre-ordered it.
One of my favorite bands, and records.
WHEAT are playing in Chicago on 10/14 at a place called The Burlington.
Anyone ever been there?

Listened to Twin Cinema/Challengers/Together this week in anticipation of the new NP album.

Shitty suburban traffic today was made tolerable by this one:

I like it. Mostly upbeat.

My favorites are High Rise, Wild Eyes, and Backstairs.
As usual, Bejar's songs are the worst. 8)

I did and they are good cans I'm pretty particular about that. I liked it. I know miracle has been bashed a bit but I thought the production was great and while not a top ten song still a solid opener. Enjoyed it overall although I am not the U2 fan I once was.
