I'm struggling to see how this makes any sense...when the new CEO came in, it sounded like he wanted to trim some of the fat in the company and focus on doing fewer things better.

So...let's spend a metric ass ton of money on a company that makes some hugely successful game where you mine shit (I know I'm over simplifying but you get my point).

In trying to find some reason this deal makes sense, I've heard the argument that this will help Microsoft improve it's mobile footprint...not sure how this does that, but whatever. This also isn't like the Bungie deal (sorry, it's a requirement I mention them in every video game related post) where they bought a company with the purpose of bring a title exclusively to their platforms. Minecraft is already out there on Sony, Apple and Android platforms, and Microsoft has said they will keep supporting it on those platforms. Finally, it's a 99.999999% guarantee that whatever Mojang does next (if they do indeed have something else in the works) it will not come close to the success Minecraft has had. So, once again, I fail to see how this ends well for Microsoft.

Then again, I just read Microsoft plans on "breaking even" on this deal by the end of 2015...so what the fuck do I know?

Saw it today as well, the only thing I can think is that I see kids playing it all the time. I think there is some version where you can play in multiple players from numerous Ipads.

Guessing they do something that makes it SURFACE compatible only for special versions?

Saturday, saw about 5 kids playing it for 3 hours, nieces, nephews, cousins, from 5 to 10 years old. I assume it is a game that can grow and grow? Played it one time for 30 seconds and taken from me by the 8 year old giving me the "Ughhh, let me show you how to play!"
