hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooolllllyyyyyyyy shit. that about sums up "the game" in 1pic/<1000words. you've got two old/pudgy-to-fat jewish guys hamming it up hardcore and then "one of the good ones" (aka lucky sperm club) rocking the suit, however, he's not wearing a proper tie and his collar is unbuttoned.... so basically you're trying to tell me that, yeah, he's mostly 95%+ business and prim and proper and indeed "one of the good ones" (so you won't feel threatened by his blackness, like, you know, when "the most dangerous producer in america" decides to start talking about chicago ave like he's ever been caught anywhere west of kedzie).... however he isn't a complete stiff/suit in that he's taken off the tie and loosened up the collar cuz dammit, he's here to HAVE FUN (just like you). he's obviously mindful of all of the rules and regulations and social norms of the wacky world of evening nap radio, however, you're going to get all that PLUS some fun and games because who wants some super stuffy corporate radio 100% rocking the suit and tie? zaniness sells!

and yeah, in terms of "radio muscle" (which has to be what they're going for here) i reckon their show is the equivalent of punky brewster taking on justin long in panther's AMC arm wrestling show. yikes.

Heard about 15 minutes of the show last night. Spike does not do radio well. Kind of pissy and smug. Very uppity. He's not likeable. I guess the third guy I heard speaking was Payton. Didn't know it was him until I saw this thread. I can take Harry in spurts when he isn't trying to gimmick up everything. But Spike is a softball.

THE GAME doesn't have nearly as many commercials as the Score. This is a huge plus. Exploit this advantage by getting better hosts

So Harry and Spike are on vacation and Connor is sitting in with Jarrett. They're talking about most-hated Packers, and Connor says how the Green Bay fullback (he didn't say his name -- maybe he won't say "Kuhn" just like he won't say "Redskins") is way over loved and some people there chant his name a little too enthusiastically. OK, Laurence.

A few minutes later he's talking about Donald Driver on Dancing with the Stars and says to Jarrett

Connor: "Do all you guys...football players have those moves? NFL players always win on that show."
Jarrett: "All of us guys?"
Connor: "Football players. I said all of you guys...football players."

What a disingenuous little phony. Spoken like a true member of the Bernstein Tree.

i know connor comes from the school of bernstein but i actually find him and mark carmen listenable. i like that the game doesn't have a professed "attitude". while spike is, as zizou put it, smug...and kind of "too cool for the room"...it's actually harry who kind of keeps him in check. and not everyone on the game is coming from the same perspective.

if you didn't know all the history behind the sports radio shit here, i don't think this station would be as hated. it's vanilla, but it's digestible. it's not ESPN-like...there is at least some fun banter that doesn't feel forced.

i like jarrett. seems like a nice guy.

I listen to The Game more than The Score. Looking forward to phase 2.

I generally like The Night Game until Connor does stuff like that, which really gets under my skin.

Why on earth Spike Manton would have that attitude is beyond me. Kind of look Hood. If you get bumped for UIC basketball, there is no way in hell you should have an attitude. You are a D-Lister.
