Sure is. Huge finish by him and Sergio.

Keegan and Phil did not do so hot this afternoon.

Fowler and Walker with a great choke job. They are in Sunday form already.

Watson is an idiot. No excuse for sitting Reed/Speith in the afternoon. So stupid to send Keegan/Phil out a half hour after their 18 hole match ended. These are the same guys who asked to sit out the afternoon session 2 years ago because they were tired. And they were awful in the afternoon. Phil was awful all day actually, Keegan carried them to the win in the morning by getting hot the last few holes. Meanwhile, Reed and Speith won by 5 and had been resting for over an hour. Yea, great idea giving them the afternoon off.

Rough finish for Fowler/Walker, but I thought overall they played well today.

If Bubba/Simpson step on the course before Sunday I'll be pissed! Same goes for Furyk and Kuchar.

I would run out the following teams in the morning...

Fowler/Walker
Reed/Speith
Keegan/Phil
Johnson/Mahan

Then, in the afternoon I would stick with whoever is hot, even if that means running all 4 teams back out again. That said, I would be hesitant to let Keegan and Phil play in the afternoon if they have to endure another slug fest in their first match.

Can we just stop playing this event and give it to the Europeans from now on? My god we have soft fucking golfers. Watson should've chewed their fucking asses out for getting so far behind.

Yeah Matt but he's not swinging the club. Bunch of mentally weak pussboys golfing for the US in the last few years. Cant get it done under pressure.

I sure wish our rich twats were better than Europe's rich twats. Watson should withhold their water.

I agree on your point. US golfers seem to lack the balls needed to win something like this.

Wow! Mickelson and Furyk throw Tom Watson under the bus.

Majorly and right to his face during the press conference, don't think they will be going out to dinner anytime soon.

Again, I don't think Watson swung the club once this weekend (though maybe he should've played) . Any problems that were to be had are from the guys teeing it up, not the fucking captain of he team .

I don't disagree with you and not really with Mickelson, but I do give him credit for saying it to his face.

I didn't think it could get any worse for Tom Watson regarding the Ryder Cup last week but it has. Way worse, even.

Bob Harig of ESPN had a tremendous report on Friday basically painting Watson as a detriment to the United States side on Saturday night before the Sunday singles matches.

"Four sources who witnessed the proceedings in the U.S. team room at the Gleneagles Hotel said Watson took no responsibility for any shortcomings, scoffed at a gift that the U.S. team members gave him, ridiculed several European team players and started the proceedings by denigrating the Americans' play that afternoon."

Yikes.

And somehow it gets worse from there.

"Watson started by saying, according to all of the sources: 'You stink at foursomes.'

After praising the rookie team of Patrick Reed and Jordan Spieth, Watson went through the Sunday singles pairings and ridiculed several members of the European side as he went through the matchups. Soon after, Watson was presented a gift by Furyk, a replica of the Ryder Cup trophy that was signed by every member of the team. Instead of thanking them, the sources said Watson said the gift meant nothing to him if the players didn't get the real Ryder Cup on Sunday and that he wanted to be holding it aloft on the green in victory.

Said one of the sources: 'That's almost verbatim. He said it basically means nothing to me.'"

The entire story is pretty wild as Harig had some deep sources on the US side and it does shed some light on why Phil Mickelson would do what he did on Sunday night.

yea I heard that on the golf channel last week. Makes Phil's comments warranted and understandable. Sounds like he should've been even harder on the guy.

ONe of the things I heard is that he told the team before Friday morning that the teams that played well would be playing again in the afternoon...then he proceeds to bench his best team (Reed/Spieth) in the afternoon.

Also heard that after Watson's comments Saturday night Phil adressed the whole room and did so by sitting on the end of a couch and turning his back to Watson and then he tried to lift the spirits of the group in contrast to what Watson had just done.
