I may be willing to watch a game if this happens.

Pitchers no longer have to deliver four balls for an intentional walk. The manager can simply signal to the umpire.

There's no chance this will happen. Plus, the wild pitch on an intentional walk is hilarious.

One by one:

1. Batter's foot has to the stay in the box at all times during AB

The exceptions built in are for foul balls (DUH), wild pitches (DUH) and ump's granting time out. This I'm OK with, but what if the runner at 1st is stealing? Need's a new wrinkle to prevent batters from getting catchers interference. Also, whats the penalty? Are we going to have penalties in baseball now? I FUCKING HATE PENALTIES.

2. Pitchers gotta throw the ball every 20 seconds

From when receiving the ball. This is stupid and I hate it. Again, penalties will rack up and people will complain about them and the MLB will NFL-ize itself with #controversial penalties people can argue about on Twitter and build up #brandawareness for #mlb. When some guy pitches at 21 seconds and gets called and it creates a walk that gives a team the baserunner they need to win the game I'm gonna be pissed.

3. Maximium inning break of 2:05, hitter must be in the box by 1:45

What if the catcher is leading off the inning? Dumb, and I'm sure exceptions will be made when TV is running late.

4. Pitching changes can only take 2:30

Hear that pitchers? I know you got hurt all the time, now we wont let you throw warm up tosses on the mound. That sound you hear is the simultaneous snapping of countless UCL's.

5. Only 3 mound visits per game

Stupid. This isn't little league, communication is key.

6. Intentional walk's are automatic with no pitches thrown

Ugly precedent. Quit trying to automate every facet of the game. It doesn't take that long either, the two just play catch back and forth for 30 seconds and the guy's on 1st. Oh the horror.

Agreed.

Plus I can't imagine that short sided monetize everything owners are going to want to give up extended commercial time & the beer sales that go along hand in hand.

Its not the timing. People dont have patience for the game. Games could be 2 hours and most would still find them boring

Right hander and left hander must bat simultaneously.

I just think that most people that argue it takes to long, just probably aren't real baseball fans.

Precisely. MLB is marketing itself to people who hate their product while pissing off the people who love it.

These all sound like they would improve the viewing aspect. They should immediately instate these rules.

3 mound visits isn't enough? GFY.

Lower outs per inning to 2, and strikes per AB to 2.

Have you ever seen a battery that cant get on the same page? Or when the SS sees something let's the pitcher know real quick? That's part of baseball.

Now the pitcher is complete alone out there. These rules are as much an attempt to break out of the new deadball era as they are to speed up the game.

A pitch that winds up more than a foot outside the strike zone should be an automatic walk.

If the batter swings at the pitch, it's an automatic strikeout.

Also, every team should have to field one woman.

It is a shame that Nas took over your account.

Pitchers and batters could always, you know, not fucking take forever to get in the box or throw the ball. It's not brain surgery.

What kind of sick and twisted individual loves how long these games take?

How long what games take? I'm not a Yankees or Red Sox fan, the games are not that long.

Just because people say it over and over again, and very loudly, does not make something true.

In watching the game last night, I never once thought to myself my God this is taking a long time. It is great baseball and theater.

So it isn't true? Can I see the math on that?

if the umpires ever enforce a chest to ankles strike zone, games will last no more than two hours.

So it isn't true? Can I see the math on that?

In 1997, when nobody was really complaining about the length of games, the average game took 2:57.

In 2014, the average game took 3:08.

9 minutes. All this freaking out over 9 fucking minutes.

Your math is not that good, that is 11 minutes according to mine.

It is 18 minutes difference between what it was in 2004(not 2005, where the Sox won the World Series) and now.

The games just seem really long though. If baseball doesn't want me as a fan then I'll accept that.

The numbers I saw in earlier articles was about a 30 minute increase in game time. I think they stretched back farther into the past. The game has a terrible pace to it. As a huge fan, I am in favor of making changes to speed up the pace.

Obedient American serfs wouldn't think twice about sacrificing an additional 18 (or 11, looks like we have some numbers discrepancies) for their boss at work. But an extra 18 minutes of something they enjoy? NO SIR! I cannot have that much time to take pleasure in things thank you.

Here it is:

The average time of a nine-inning game has increased from 2 hours, 33 minutes in 1981 to a record 3:03 this year.
