Yes.

He's about 4th or 5th in line for blame though. I don't see many tweets/posts/threads for the first 3 or 4. Just Jay. Always Jay.

Don't become a literal arguer. You know what we are talking about.

I wasnt trying to be a dick. But when you intentionally leave out his 2 INTs when talking about how he played well enough to win, I feel obligated to point out that he didn't actually play well enough to win. And those 2 INTs are a huge factor in the loss.

We both agree the talent surrounding him is pretty subpar, save for a couple skill players. So I would think you would understand what we are saying when we say that he has to play mistake-free football more often than not. All the elite ones do.

1 interception was costly. I don't think that pick was why they lost the game.

The couple actual skill players around him didn't do much. It wouldn't kill anybody else to actually make a play. Jay is the only reason they didn't lose by 3 TDs because I didn't see anybody else do anything on offense.

Simpler version for yesterday...

Bears:

Defense sucked
Special Team sucked (here's looking at you Robbie)
Offense sucked
Play calling sucked
QB'ing sucked

The Bears played like pussies yesterday and Cutler just put the cherry on top of that shit sundae with that late pick.

Every team by now must repeat the "Cutler mantra" to themselves.

"If we wait, Jay will throw us the ball"

I hang this loss on the special teams, coaching and Jay in that order.

Missed chip shot from Gould and that unforgiveable punt return TD is a 10pt swing.

Trestman again tried to show he was the smartest guy on the sideline and made some dumb choices.

Jay needs to clean it up. Throwing picks isnt the end of the world but its all about timing. Cant do it late in the 4th. Have to be smarter than that...

Well, I think that is just because of the importance of the position and just how much money Jay is being made. If you want to blame Emery for paying him that then that makes sense. However, I believe you were on the side of thinking the contract was the right move. I may be wrong on that though.

I don't think people are saying that Jay is the primary reason they lost yesterday. Jay has a great talent of rarely being the primary reason they lost. That is how he has had such a long stretch of consecutive games as a starter while other similarly producing quarterbacks have been sent packing. I'm talking about guys like Schaub, and Palmer.

Even I'll acknowledge that Cutler is rarely the primary reason they lose. I just think we disagree on if that is acceptable for the highest paid QB in the league or not.

I dont blame the skill players that much. Jeffrey did some nice things. Forte had a tough game. Either Jay wasnt throwing downfield enough, or the coaching didnt call for it enough. It's hard to put a ton of blame on the skill players when they aren't used properly.

Allen's $ is worse for the Bears, and there are some REALLY bad QB contracts out there right now.

The problem with Jay's contract is that it is also putting on hold the search for the next quarterback unless they get a once in every five year late round quarterback who is worth anything. It doesn't make sense to draft a quarterback next year either with a pick that could provide a player who could help now.

Based on what we see now, we are looking at Jay Cutler being cut after next season as the first possible time to cut him with it being much more likely after the season after that.

What other bad contracts are there besides Bradford?

Off top of my head:

Flacco
Dalton
Kapernick
Stafford
Alex Smith

(Eli? Not sure what's left on his deal...)

All are very expensive and have varying degrees of suck.
QB's are expensive, if you decide you want to keep them.

Not sure any of those teams are able to advance in their search for another QB down the road either. You can't pay two QB's top $. So you draft one on the cheap and hope they work out down the road (Fales, Garropolo, etc).

Dalton got $22 million guaranteed, iirc. Can't really say that's franchise-crippling. And he is a better QB than Cutler, who got $54 million guaranteed.

The Dalton and Kaepernick contracts aren't bad. They ended up being quite team friendly. The initial reports were way off. I'd be ecstatic if Cutler had the same deal as either of those guys.

The Flacco contract is bad but at least when he got it he was coming off a Super Bowl victory.

I don't think the Smith contract is great but I don't consider it bad either. I'd be a hell of a lot more comfortable with that one compared to what Cutler got, and that is with Smith on average being a better quarterback and certainly the team being better.

I agree on the Stafford contract. I'm still a defender of his but it's hard to defend him right now.

I still think that Cutler has the second worst contract with Bradford being the obvious #1 in that.

How does this work? How can you defense Stafford but bash Cutler as much as you do?

Stafford had one elite season and is only 26. His season last year was as good or better than any year Cutler has had but still disappointing. Just like Jay Cutler though, he needs to start playing a lot better to be worth what he is being paid.
