How could Gaines Adams be even close to the Cutler trade? Not only did they get a quarterback in Cutler that was worse than Orton, they had to give up two first round draft picks to get him. Those two lost first-rounders are still impacting the Bears today with the moves they have had to make in FA to compensate for not having the picks.
I still remember how B&B talked up Cutler after the trade announcement like he was the second-coming. Because of that, they have had to make excuses about him not performing for five years now. This season is the first time Bernstein has not made the excuses for him, saying they have all run out. And then we get the debacle that was the Carolina game, where Cutler showed his true form.
I want to like Cutler. I can't, though, when he plays consistently stupid, as if he were some high school freshman. The throw and interception over the middle against Carolina was the epitome of all Cutler's mistakes over the years.
the problem with your argument is Jerry Angelo would have been making those "lost" picks. Therefore it would not have mattered if you had them.
