I haven't seen anything to suggest it isn't serious, I think it's safe to assume it is serious and I've already assumed he won't be seen again, barring a need for a WS DH option. "Strained oblique" doesn't sound bad at first, but given the demands of the Tools of Ignorance and his importance to the franchise, I'd be mildly surprised to seeing him playing or being productive this year.

Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina (oblique) is day to day after playing catch Monday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Manager Mike Matheny said Molina has been "watch and see," but the catcher threw well Monday and remains on the active roster for the National League Championship Series. However, Molina has yet to swing a bat and will likely need to clear that hurdle before being inserted into the lineup. Matheny refused to name a starting catcher for Tuesday's Game 3 action, but it's near certain A.J. Pierzynski will get the start against his former team.
