drafting last after a Super Bowl victory, the Bears select

Josh Havey-Clemons, S, Georgia- 6'4" 215

The glaring part of the 2014 draft was not adequately addressing safety. I expect they will sign a quality veteran cut in the next couple of months from another team to a one year contract. This leaves next year's need the same as this year. Let's go with the biggest guy available.

Mississippi State LB Benardrick McKinney

6'5" and he'll probably be about 250 by next year - he runs a 4.5 40 and can actually tackle people. Rated one of the top athletes in all of college football - it feels like an Emery pick. Plus, they're going to need to bolster the LB corps after this year.

He got kicked off the team and transferred to Louisville. He's sitting out next year. I doubt he's going to be in the draft.

He's going to be a top-12 pick. Patrick Willis 2.0 but bigger.

They should trade up, or down, to get him. Stupid Emery.

Bears will be able to get him then. Damn.

So you think the Bears will be worse than last year?

There's a good chance. Not many teams improve when they get rid of their best quarterback.

The 2014 BEARS will be far superior to 8-8

I'll reserve him for the 2106 draft thread.

Durkin had a good point on B&B. They are burning through Forte pretty hard.

Next year, there could be 3-4 1st round RBs, unlike years past. The Bears could be in a position for TJ Yeldon. Do it. Carey isn't the answer.

Gordon could be available too but I don't know if he can catch the ball. Yeldon has done at least a little bit of that.

I've really liked what I've seen of Carey. The only problem I see is that he approaches the line of scrimmage like a young man approaches his first sexual experience.

Slow down and enjoy the ride Ka'deem.

He's alright for what he is. But Trestman need a load back. Carey is a solid change of pace - take 25% of the snaps guy. He's a nice piece.

I'm surprised no one has screamed you don't take a RB in the 1st round yet.

You don't take an RB not named Gurley in the first round.

I think it is very wise to not take a RB in the first round. Surely there will be another defensive piece available in the first round.

I think Yeldon will be a late 1st round guy. Gordon will drop to 2nd or 3rd unless he does something ridiculous at the combine. But I don't think he's that fast.

So I'll revise my estimate to 2 1st rounders...unless Mike Davis runs a 4.37.

He's football fast but I wasn't sure if he's 40 dash combine fast. At his size, in order to be in the 1st, he'd have to be in the 4.4s and it looks like he's run that before based on the Google machine that says he's been in the mid-to-low 4.4s.

I was saying I wasn't sure he's fast enough to put up a ridiculous combine 40 time. But, he might be.

Either way, I think he's very good and would be a steal in the 2nd or 3rd if he drops like that.

If he came out this year they said late first early 2nd, I don't think that will change. Especially as bad as Wisconsin has played to date.

That's about where I'd think he'd be also. I like his running style but I wish I knew how good his hands were receiving.

We were supposed to see more of that this year, but you have to have a quarterback that can throw 7 to 8 yards accurately.

Here's a mock I've seen recently to see general areas where guys are going. A lot of mocks have the Bears taking another CB. No way that happens.

They have to go LB and they should be losing enough now that McKinney will be there for them. He's my guy.

Well, the good news is that we're moving on up - solidly into the McKinney territory for MY GUY.

But, now new possibilities are on the table.

The bad news is - I don't think this draft is all that great, especially for D talent in the top part of the draft. Maybe things will change when the combine comes around.
