Anyone not excited by the Royals post season run is a bad sports fan. #BizzaroBernsteinHotTake

I accidentally flipped and watched them almost get beat by the A's and then watched them win every game thereafter. I haven't watched this much baseball in nearly a decade. I am actually excited to watch the World Series even though I don't have a true rooting interest.

For as #smart it is to build a SABR-metrically sound baseball team, and for as much as a certain radio host would like to see goliaths curb stop fluky, grindy teams, the casual fan is always going to be more interested in the NARRATIVE if there aren't any superstars to watch. This shit has been fun to watch. I don't give a shit if Ned Yost is a terrible manager. I care about whether or not I am entertained by what I'm watching. And holy shit have the Royals been entertaining.

Yep, I would've been happy with either Baltimore or KC, if for no other reason,
than the fact that it wouldn't be another NY/BOS/LAA/TEX in the AL.
I was hoping the Nats or Pirates could've done it in the NL. I'm with SpiralStairs.
Sometimes it's just more fun to watch underdogs.
Imagine the ratings for a Pittsburgh/Kansas City WS.

Oh, and fuck the Cardinals.

They're interesting because in the regular season they were really good at everything except hitting home runs and making sound managerial decisions. In the post season they've been smacking homers and succeeding despite Yost's buntiness. This is why baseball is great.

You read Joe Sheehan too?

Take the 89-73 #Royals, add a bunch of extra homers and upgrade the manager to "not actively killing you", and you get 8-0.

I thought I was ripping off Dave Cameron.

I'm having a complete and utter bromance with Alex Gordan.

Wait, please tell me Bernstein isn't saying he hates the Royals run.

He'd be happy for them if, like, his accountant were originally from Kansas City and a big fan.

Nah he hasn't said it yet. There's always tomorrow's show though...

I don't understand why they're afraid of counterprogramming themselves when they're already hiding the games on Fox Sports 1.

I'm not a fan of Yost, but I can't help fall in love with a baseball team who is playing at such a high level in most aspects of the game. The number of great defensive plays during their run have been amazing. They are getting timely hitting, especially late in innings and in extras. Pitching hasn't been bad. Its a great story.

I would be disappointed if Bernstein was not enjoying this. I think he has more of a distaste of the cinderella in college basketball and the NBA, but who knows. Maybe someone should call him and ask.

I know the Giants and Cards are really good, but I think the Royals are gonna run the table. Absolutely everything is going their way and their bullpen is almost untouchable. I mean, they won yesterday on a kicked throw for chrissakes!

Even though they are in the Sox division, I am happy for them. Seem like a good bunch of guys, and that city has been a baseball morgue for so long. Really happy for them.

I see what you're saying and could see the Royals keep rolling but man Im telling you the Fucking Giants just dont lose a lot of games

They dont do much. They just pitch and catch the ball until you make a mistake (like the Royals won on a kicked throw, the Giants won on an errant throw in game 3)

The giants hit singles and run the bases well and all of a sudden you look up and they're up 6-3 in the 8th with Casilla is getting lose (2 baserunners in his last 40 innings)

It could be a crazy awesome world series.

Yep. And people (networks) will piss and moan, "Waaaahh there's no Red Sox! No Yankees! No Angels! No Chicago team! No Cardinals, boooo!"

And those assholes will miss what could be one of the best* World Series in recent memory.

 It always makes me laugh to read the Cardinal fans on social media bitching about the announcers. If the announcers are not constantly sucking the dick of the Cardinals then they are idiots that are way too biased

I could see why Cardinal fans have gotten used to it though... Every. National. Broadcast. Ugh.

You know its funny that a dude can get up there in front of 40,000 screaming fans and square up a 95mph fastball into the seats but if a fucking camera shutter goes during a golfers backswing he loses his shit over it.
