The Dolphins are a lot better than what their record says they are. They're strong up front on offense and their defense is one of the best in the NFL. Offensively they're solid running the ball but inconsistent passing.

If the Bears defense doesn't give up multiple big scoring plays in the air this could be a blowout. We will see a lot of Forte today. His running and short receptions will slowdown the Dolphins pass rush. The offensive line will give Cutler time to throw and the Bears will get their first home victory.

The Bears currently have (according to Nate Silver-type number magic) only a 16.3% chance of making it in to the playoffs.

Besides a needed win (which would just about give the Bears a 1 in 5 chance to get into the playoffs), it would seem to be a good thing to root for wins by: StL over Sea (not likely), Car over GB (would be nice, but no), NO over Det (okay), Oak over AZ (perhaps, probably not), and Den over SF (okay).

A full (albeit exceedingly unlikely) sweep of helpful victories would enhance the Bears' chances by a little over 5%, which coupled with a win would then put the Bears' chances more in line with a 1 in 4 hope ... which in and of itself ain't so great but would be significant improvement over their current chances.

They think the Bears are, at home today, a -5 favorite over Miami w/ a 2 in 3 chance of winning.

This is the best I can do to remotely approach positivity, particularly in a Nas Bears thread.

(That all said, '538' still thinks the Bears are probably just an 8-8 team)

Today's game is a must win. With the Beloved playing the Pats next week, I'm close to chalking that up to a loss (maybe). This game is winnable and I hope the young LBs continue to build on last week's game and grow.
