Bernstein went out of his way today to say he's not asking for a coach with "Fire and Passion." He's asking for a coach who won't get walked all over.
My question is, is there a difference? I mean, even if at a very small level, isn't a coach who won't be walked over someone with at least a little bit of fire and passion who gets legitimately pissed at a certain point? What leverage does Marc Trestman have with Brandon Marshall? This is not Corporate America. He does not get a window dressing performance review. He will not be let go. He will not be traded (and even if he was, his money would remain).
Doesn't a coach who doesn't get walked all over mean a coach who gets legitimately pissed and inspires at least a little intimidation of his players include "fire and passion"? I don't understand how the two are different.
