Marc Silverman, afternoon co-host of WMVP-AM’s “Waddle and Silvy,” has moved from the city to the northern suburbs, paying $950,000 for a four-bedroom, 4,014-square-foot house in Riverwoods and selling his longtime condo in Ukrainian Village for $644,000.

OPEN LINK
A Skokie native, Silverman has been a staple on Chicago sports talk radio for years. Now a new father with a 21-week-old son, Silverman told Elite Street that he and his wife originally had planned to move to the northern suburbs sometime next year. However, a hot real estate market right now caused a change of heart.

“I had noticed some of the flyers you get from Realtors and some of the comps in our neighborhood were just surprising me,” Silverman said. “People are selling a comparable unit to what we have now. And I hate to be in a situation where you’re looking to sell real estate where you have to sell and it’s a desperate situation. So I hired an agent and said, ‘Look, if we (put it up for sale) and we get close to what we’re looking for, we’re gonna go.’ And the first person who showed up gave us an offer.”

Silverman and his wife listed their three-bedroom condo in Ukrainian Village for $649,900 and closed for $644,000 just weeks later. He had paid $558,500 in 2010 for the multilevel unit, which is in a building constructed in 2007. Features include 2-1/2 baths, Wenge cabinets, Viking and Bosh appliances, dark stained hardwood floors, steel railings, a gas fireplace, 14-foot ceilings in the living room/dining room condo, a walk-out terrace and a private roof deck.

In Riverwoods, Silverman’s new house had been listed for $1 million. It has 4-1/2 baths, a fully finished walk-out lower level, crown moldings, built-ins in most rooms and refinished floors.

“It was very tough to leave Ukrainian Village,” Silverman said. “It has so many great restaurants and shops.”

$250K , very close to that.

Silvy is half right in his Real Estate insight. He got to sell the unit, which I agree is half the battle, but the price he got, while good...is irrelevant, as the market is better and that means he just pays a higher price for the new house he is buying.

Lets say the market goes down next year...and he sells it for $600K, but he can now buy his new house for $900K...thats a better deal.

The fact you can sell something for more than you paid is not always a the great deal you think it is.

I'm amazed that Silvy might make $250K. My best complement to him would be that he is inoffensive.

No way. He is a great interviewer, fair, and professional. He watches everything, is informed, and loves sports. He can be funny too. I'd bet he's saved a to over the last 10 years too.

She is super-cute and seems to have a kind vibe about her. Though she has some Sarah Spain in her as she has a Master's degree from an ivy leagueish university yet works as a "suite attendant" at the UC. God knows what her duties require of her in that capacity.

She was working the suite I was in last year for a work outing for my wife's company. I didn't talk to her, because that would probably be creepy, but that didn't stop another person there from asking her about Silvie.

I remember when they signed Waddle at $375K a year and Waddles does close to nothing. Silvy had to be a little pissed as he drives the show and the promotion of the show. Guessing Waddle now at $425K, or something like that, as I am sure ESPN corp thinks "It's Waddle, Network Gem" that he is ultra popular in chicago and drives the ratings.

No, some douchey salesman. He talked to her most of the night. Bob Love stopped by too. Yes, he was wearing the leather jacket.

I would guess Silvy's makes more than $250K, just from ESPN. He has been on the air with Waddle for sometime, has done weekly shows with Cutler and Ditka for a while, and now has the highest rated sports show in drivetime.

Add in the $ from appearances he makes and its probably quite healthy.

Terrance B. Oers makes 500 fucking thousand dollars. Do you all need to be reminded of that? Based off that, Silvy should be paid a billion.

Thankfully you didn't witness any Jerry Jones type action. Did the douchey salesman ask why Silvy is so shiny? I would probably have to ask her that.

Easy there, Tommy Toughnuts. Silvy is not as entertaining as Oers. Silvy is competent and does his job well but he's not in Terry's league when it comes to producing entertainment value. Of course, Terry is still criminally overpaid.

Silvy is light years ahead of Boers, who mailed it in years ago. This isn't 1998 anymore. At least back then Boers could complete a sentence without stuttering and might have a couple of coherent thoughts from show to show. You keep saying Silvy is competent and adequate, yet Boers isn't even that anymore.

yeah, but during tranny on Tuesday he had bits about the benefits about blind people getting to 'hog it', and making sure that 'peter boyle' wasn't a condition instead of a name, which were funnier than anything Silvy has done since '98.

Terry has mailed it in for sure, but he still pulls out some gems. Maybe he needs to be more on the Buffone plan at this point, at, er, slightly reduced pay. I'm sure WSCR would use the new funds to upgrade the talent in other time slots!
