Peyton Manning MUST be ahead of Marino on every list. There is no argument otherwise.

Rodgers it the GOAT. Manning is a distant 2nd right now probably.

Why do you have such a desire to ignore what quarterbacks actually do?

I could argue that Manning would have 5 rings if he had been in New England.

If Rodgers plays long enough he probably will be.

Are you saying that Manning is the best QB in the NFL?

Yes, though it is close with Rodgers now.

I don't think it is even close. Rodgers is by far the best in the game IMO. Not only the best QB but the best player.

Right now? Sure, I see no real problem with that. It's partly a function of his position though. The greatest WR or RB shouldn't ever have a chance to be more important than the greatest QB purely by function of the position.

Elway is overrated

But he's not as bad as his numbers look. There were like two 2 or 3 QB's who could run and throw in that era so it was a big deal to be one of them.

The thing is Randall Cunningham was better than Elway

I think it's close, but Peyton and Rodgers are pretty clearly above everyone else playing right now. I think Rodgers is clearly better than Peyton too, but I understand why Rick would disagree.

One thing that hurts Peyton's playoff stats is his regular season success. He has earned his team a crazy number of byes that don't count toward stats or as a win for his play-off record.

If you assign W/L to the QB, the QB's getting byes deserve a free win. I'm not looking it up, but I think he has 8 bye's taking him into the divisional round.

It's close. What else do you want Manning to do this year? He's been about as good as you can be.

That would make sense because I think he also has eight 1-and-done's in the playoffs.

As of now, Manning has an edge in almost all numbers, though the total stats are slightly skewed right now since Manning played this week.

Well, Manning only has one Super Bowl victory ... I mean, look how many Rodgers has!

At football?

Yes

More efficient passer
Better runner
Better QB Rating
Better TD%
Better Y/attempt

Elway was more durable. When both healthy Randall was everything Elway was and a little more

Rodgers had a better QB rating than Peyton coming into this week, but Peyton is crushing everybody in DYAR and DVOA, which are better to use. So yeah, I agree the statistical case for Peyton is better right now.

But watching them both play and trying to be objective, Rodgers is better. He has a much, much worse offensive line which I think is really a big factor. The other big factor is playcalling, because I think Mike McCarthy is a moron and fucks the offense up sometimes. But that is something I'll give Peyton credit for, becoming his own offensive coordinator has pretty much prevented that from ever being an issue.

It's definitely between Peyton and Rodgers, but Rodgers can do things on the field Peyton can't do, and the converse is not true.

I don't know what else Peyton could do this year. His only "bad" game was against the Super Bowl champs who won on defense last year and he still played pretty well. That same team basically shut down Rodgers in the first game.

Rodgers will surpass him if he plays like he has the past 4 games though.

Peyton was actually terrible against Seattle until that final drive. I would not say he played better than Rodgers did against them.

Like I said though, Peyton's offensive line is one of the best in the NFL. I think if you put him behind the Packers offensive line he would put up pretty good numbers, but nowhere near as great as the numbers he has put up. We saw in the Super Bowl what happens to Peyton when he doesn't have time to throw. Rodgers at least has the wheels to put up a fighting chance against that type of rush.

All of the greats have something to hang their hats on. They have great stats, great postseason success, Super Bowls, etc. What exactly is Elway's other than two SB's at the end of his career in which he wasn't even his team's best offensive weapon?

He made three super bowls before that. I dont think you can just toss those away. It definitely is silly to compare him to a career loser like Cutler.

I agree with you he is overrated and a terrible human being though.

Cutler was hyperbole. Few are losers to the degree Cutler is.
