All of the greats have something to hang their hats on. They have great stats, great postseason success, Super Bowls, etc. What exactly is Elway's other than two SB's at the end of his career in which he wasn't even his team's best offensive weapon?

He made three super bowls before that. I dont think you can just toss those away. It definitely is silly to compare him to a career loser like Cutler.

I agree with you he is overrated and a terrible human being though.

Cutler was hyperbole. Few are losers to the degree Cutler is.

He's Jim Plunkett/Eli Manning basically. Glad we can all agree on that.

Moon was better than Cunningham and neither were in the class of Elway. Cunningham was Michael Vick before Michael Vick was Michael Vick. 8)

As of now, Manning has an edge in almost all numbers, though the total stats are slightly skewed right now since Manning played this week.

Rodgers had a better QB rating than Peyton coming into this week, but Peyton is crushing everybody in DYAR and DVOA, which are better to use. So yeah, I agree the statistical case for Peyton is better right now.

But watching them both play and trying to be objective, Rodgers is better. He has a much, much worse offensive line which I think is really a big factor. The other big factor is playcalling, because I think Mike McCarthy is a moron and fucks the offense up sometimes. But that is something I'll give Peyton credit for, becoming his own offensive coordinator has pretty much prevented that from ever being an issue.

It's definitely between Peyton and Rodgers, but Rodgers can do things on the field Peyton can't do, and the converse is not true.

Manning is smarter. It's not even close. He's a coach on the field and clearly better than Mike McCarthy.

Manning is the kid who aces the quizzes and tests but tanks the final exam. Sure he's on the honor roll but he's not graduating first in class.

No. Three superbowl appearances. Every important record in the book.

Modern records always require context. There's no question that rules favor modern era QBs. There will be a number of good but not great QBs with better stats than greats from the 70s and 80s. While it is not the only factor, playoff success is the great leveler.

His records are virtually meaningless. You can't compare his stats to his predecessors. He's also been the reason his team lost in just about every playoff game. He's a top 10 QB but the fact that he wilts under pressure hurts him. You expect him to fail at the end and he usually does. Look no further than the last 2 playoff defeats.

They eliminated NE from the playoffs last year.

No, Im not blind. Elway is crazy overrated because he led a couple comebacks and could run at a time when few QB's did

If he was so good, he wouldnt have worse stats in almost every category than a guy like Randall Cunningham

In football I believe it is close. It's only one game. I don't believe the giants beating the undefeated patriots in 2007 means the giants were the better team, as if winning that one game cements your legend as best team of x year for all of eternity.

Peyton is the best regular season Quarterback of all time.

He turns average in January.

Oh, so the regular season matters now?

It always matters to some degree.

Whatever. Yesterday was meaningless. That's fine.

Why is it always black and white with you? Why can't their be varying degrees?

It wasn't meaningless. It was an important regular season game. We just have to decide how much weight to give it because Peyton has a ton of great performances in regular season games against very good competition.

I like plenty of quarterbacks more.

It's just hard to come up with a ranking that isn't grossly inconsistent or "I like Dan Marino" that doesn't put him at the top.

I find you acceptable.
