With a real kicker they'd have had two more wins.

Not if Megatron is still hurting and well, there's still the issue of Detroit's version of Cutler.

that would matter if it wasn't for the fact that the saints D is playing at a pee wee level and brees can't throw deep anymore. not to mention how awful they are on the road.

I agree. The kicker really fucked them over by not kicking 7 field goals in week 2.

With a competent kicker, they win yesterday. You can't go 0 for 3 indoors.

Alex Henery has been released. I hope Prater is taking a physical as I type this.

Prater signed a one year deal with the Lions.

Bironas worked out for the Lions the week before he died.

The Lions also worked out Jay Feely, this week.

I have a hard time believing they can sustain what they are doing defensively. If they can, then yes, look the fuck out for Detroit.

If they keep playing defense like this the rest of the season, none of the other variables matter.

vs Saints (loss), and then at Falcons (loss). They will be 4-4 at the break.

In fairness with regard to yesterday's performance, there are probably about 10 other teams in the league that could hold Minnesota (without AP and with Bridgewater) to single digit points.

Of course. Green Bay did similar things to them and Green Bay's defense sucks. But the Lions have played great defensively in every game. They are comfortably the best defense in the NFL after 6 games. Like I said, I don't expect that to continue. But if it does, they will win 12 games or so.

yet, they always seem to by the end of the year

I don't think they are particularly good in the secondary but they are playing well at the moment...lot's of summer soldiers out there, including the 5-1 Cowboys

while detroit is capable of shitting down their pantlegs, i do not see them losing to the saints. the saints are an absolute mess. they had to fight to beat a team that has barely shown up for an NFL football game this season. and they were *proud* of it.

i could see them losing at atlanta.

They're 5-2 now... with a nice comeback win against the Saints today. Is my original post looking any less insane?

I keep hearing people giving the division to the Packers. Not sure why.

Until the Lions prove that they are not going to Detroit themselves and/or the Bears prove they are a legit NFL team, it should be given to the Packers.

 Yeah, I still think they will too. But the fact that their defense is carrying them and not their offense leads me to believe this may be a different detroit team. Stafford is like Cutler in that he should never inspire confidence, but he can probably ride the coattails of a top 3 defense to a division title if their D keeps it up.

Very odd performance, even with so many injuries.
