Even in the heyday of Sports Talk Radio in Chicago they did not do much with college football. Chicago just has never seemed like a college football town.

Am I the only one who would be interested to hear an SEC, Pac 12, Big 12, etc. perspective a little each week? The locals always seem to have kind of a fun and colorful take on things.

I loved when HFC did around the NFL. I have no reason to remember the name Patrick Royce but I do because it was an interesting listen even beyond the NFL.

There should be more coverage of college football, but it's beneath guys like Bernstein, and means some of the hosts may need to study up.

They both have Heisman votes, one has disdain for the game and the other watches intently on his magic TV.

Probably. But I doubt gd is advocating more sports radio talk of the Annual Reports of the Big Ten Conference - even though I'd be all over that.

But that financial strength is based on television ratings. Are TV ratings no longer evidence of a sport's popularity?

I think the financial strength is more directly related to how many homes the station is in regardless of whether anybody is actually watching it.

Also, that's separate from the on-field product in any particular year. Poor on-field performance is going to have a negative impact on the financial success of the conference on a more long-term basis.

Do you think that's really true? Aren't we going to follow the Illini even if they do something really stupid and outlandish, like hire that bum Beckman as head coach?

Did the Adam Dunn signing get the White Sox closer to a championship too?

The Big Ten now includes markets that compose 20% of the entire country (maybe more). Alums have to number well into the millions with residual fan bases exponentially larger than that. There are more people in Chicago who have plunked down money for education than for a Bears ticket. They are invested in this conference and will listen to talk about it even in a down football market for the conference
