Did a fill in show in West Chicago and his band played on the bill. He used another band's drum kit, but brought his own snare drum (not really uncommon, but it seemed douch-ey for some reason). Not a fan of punk music and his band exemplified the reasons why.

They showed up late, played and left.

You should write a review trashing their performance and saying their old stuff is better.

I would have never in a million years used the word "douch-ey" or any variants thereof referring to DeRo.

i remember @ harper college around the turn of the millennium i had a creative writing teacher who used like 90% of the class time to go out of his way to trash all of the writers out there using this literary device to do X, or using whatever cliche/stereotype/etc to make another piece of hackneyed schlock that makes the world a little bit dumber for the whole experience...

...and then at the end of the semester he gave us one of his short stories to read, and whaddya know it was chock full of all of those stupid devices and cliches and stereotypes that he literally spent all fucking semester bitching about. i was flabbergasted because like.... shit, you thought a guy who was so ostensibly against everything wrong with contemporary literature would at least try to do something else.... but instead it was psychological displacement 101.

he ended up giving my final story about a society where people evolved into fucking their comptuers a D+ and he noted he only gave me the D+ because he liked the "traditional latin name" of my protagonist, cornelius jurevicius. little did he know i came up with the name by taking the names of two NFL players who had big formal sounding names: cornelius bennett and joe jurevicius. i never told him.
