Having said that, he was exciting to watch. If I had a choice for one game, I'd take AP.

Bl AP isn't a 3rd down back or good blocking or pass catching back either. When the pressure is on he's going to crack.

Agree to disagree Nas. It's be strange if our debate ended any other way.

It's going to be heresy for some but I don't think Sanders was as good as
Payton. In their primes I'd take Walter every time .

I agree with this. Walter Payton was the greatest running back I've witnessed in my lifetime. And I say that as a Packer fan.

Madden '93 version of Barry Sanders was unstoppable. All You had to do was spin (B), right before the defender hit you and they could not tackle him.

Barry would have broke the all-time rushing record if he didn't retire early.

I remember the first time I saw him. I said, "I thought the Lions where suppose to be bad? This guy is amazing!"

Barry best RB to ever play the game.

i think you could argue that barry sanders was the best runner of the football in NFL history. i mean when he had a hole/gap and he was able to hit it and get into space.... that was a spectacle to behold.

when you start talking about best RUNNING BACK in NFL history then you've gotta take into account blocking and receiving and even throwing passes and stuff, and i think that's where walter is more complete than barry sanders was. AP is prolly beyond barry in that regards too.

granted i don't have the cognitive database of knowledge on barry or especially walter since i was like ~12 and ~5 years old when i respectively saw them play, whereas AP showed up in my late 20s and at a time when i was years deep into fantasy football and paid a lot more attention to football as a whole. so i'm kind of going off of hazy youth memories and what a lot of people older than me have said, but i'm pretty sure i've got it just about right on futon here. i remember barry sanders being something transcendentally special in the open field, whereas i've seen AP and walter be better and more complete running backs than barry sanders, who from what i gather hearkens early/pre-injury-gale-sayers like no other in the annals of NFL history.

Thurman Thomas was just about as good in that game. Catch the screen pass with TT and B-spin your ass all the way down the sidelines for a TD.

Now - how about Roenick in NHL '93??

Thomas was just as good in that game...as were Emmitt Smith and whoever the bum for the Redskins was that year...not quite Tecmo Bo good, but the four horsemen of Madden '93 were so deadly that whenever my cousins and I would have a weekend tournament, those four teams were banned.
