I know others have used the phrase and I never denied it, but didnt totally buy in, but I have come to the realization, Jay is the second coming of Jeff George.

He doesnt listen to anyone, he has his own game plan, can throw the ball a mile even with terrible mechanics of throwing off back foot (George slung it with a finger on back of the ball), shitty attitudes, get coaches fired.

The real question will be in 3 years when they cut Jay. Maybe he gets a 2 year deal somewhere to QB, for that team that has no better option and then the real kicker will be if he just keeps signing deals to stay in the league,a s George would still do today....if someone would have him.

Remember when they got Jay.... :D :D :D and now :( :( :(

I don't think that is a fair comparison. He's been forced to learn 90 offenses and has improved statistically his 2nd year in every offense. This year he has been forced to overcome injuries to his top 3 receivers and 80% of his offensive line and terrible play calling on offense. In addition to that he has the added pressure of needing to score a touchdown on every possession because he never knows what defense will show up. When Mr. Orange was his coach he didn't have this problem.

I get the new OC's, but how many coaches are bad...and it's enver Jays fault.

And Now whats the issue? because he was so suppossed to click 100% with Tresty.

It's obvious Trestman is OK with short passes, MCcown made a living off of it. Jay seems to only do it as a check down. Plus Jay seems to only throw to his buddies.

There is also the issue of Jay locking on to WR's. he doesnt do it all time, but still does it plenty.

The switching out of running plays last game was a concern. Did jay just make some bad calls or is him changing the offense?

Today is almost a defining game for Jay.

Cutler shares some of the responsibility but I don't think he is at the level of a Jeff George. I agree today is a defining game for him and this Bears team. He's been historically bad against the Packers and a L will end the Bears season.

Nah, he's made his millions with this stupid contract. I don't think he'll exactly hang on to the NFL kicking and screaming. Cut after 10+ seasons? DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON'T CAAAAAAAAAAAARE

Rogue - don't forget George played in a much more difficult passing era and accumulated those stats.

True. Jeff George was a complete loser in just about every way possible.

Yet it's Trestman's fault?

Even if you believe Cutler has struggled that doesn't mean that you can't also believe Trestman has had a bad year.

Trestman has had a terrible year!

Once the other teams took away the downfield passes, every short option he has in someone going out ans sitting down. No plays of WR's catching in motions.

And it sure seems everyone else knows when 15 is crossing or going deep.

I'm not going to argue about Cutler but to be fair,in game #16 of 2013 against the Pack,he did better than Rodgers but the defense was crap.

The similarities are too strong and i was thinking the same thing during the first 3 possessions of the Bears/Packers. Both have tremendous talent, Cutler a true stud of an athlete. But both prefer the gunslinger approach as opposed to being the game manager. Cutler, like George, is an OC killer because he has some flaws and faults that he's comfortable with. George never took the same drop twice which affected his accuracy, whether he was in the run-and-shoot of June Jones (Atlanta) or the go-deep-and-i'll-hit-ya of the Raiders he wouldn't play the position properly. Hence why play-action was something he couldn't perform because he would execute the fake out of position. Cutler's mechanics are poor and it is because of his superior athleticism that he isn't benched. He locks in on his receivers, prefers to throw where they are as opposed where they will be, and because of his poor mechanics his balls over the middle tend to sail on him.

Both could make highlight reel plays but both couldn't win, consistently.

At least Jeff George probably believed in vaccinating his children.
