The offense needs a better defense to practice against.

I think all tampering is done by a third party. Otherwise, I think it's just cuckolding.

The Bears are an organization full of Peter Principle guys. Too many people in a position one level above their level of competency.

I get the feeling that the rest of the McCaskey family is just waiting for Virginia to croak, then they will sell the Bears. I don't think any of them really care of football, too much and would rather have the $1B.

So you want this smart, high up guy with the Bears to willingly violate NFL rules?

Maybe the Bears can poach another defensive coordinator from Jacksonville whenever they fire this staff. Babich may have once again become qualified for a job here.

Complementary football is when Jay gives the ball to the other team. He signs it; to the defense with love, Jay Cutler

Yes. Tampering happens all the time. The Bears should do exactly what Theo just did.

I loved both Emery and Trestman. I was wrong.

The play that typifies Trestman this year was Mathews demolishing Williams. He knew that play was coming. There were several other instances where this was true, including that for shit bubble screen they run so poorly. This has happened often this year but nothing changes. The league caught up to him during the off season and he is showing himself to be a one trick pony.

It's the NFL collectively saying "Oh, you're really just going to run the West Coast offense? We figured that out 15 years ago."

SF is not going to file charges. They don't want any of the Bears players as compensation. I could see Emery leaving SF GM a message, "yes we contacted Harbaugh, here take Shae, I'm guilty off all charges. Take Brock, Allen, Houston, Briggs, BEEP, your message time has expired. Shit, I didn't even get to the offense"

Hold off on Trestman.

Jimmy Johnson was the HC of a 1-15 team.

Bill Belichick coached 5 of 6 losing seasons before he took off.

Bill Cowher coached 14 years and won one SB.

just sayin'.

You only fire him if you can get Harbaugh. There is nobody else worth getting. Not even Gruden. I don't think he's the great coach everybody thinks he is.

But to get Harbaugh, he's gonna want 5 years at 7 million per. And you'll have to eat 8.5 million of Trestman's remaining 2 years. Don't know if George and his family will do that.

No. Trestman must go regardless of what happens with Harbaugh. Are gou really saying that you would rather have Trestman as head coach over Gruden?

I'm not going to sugarcoat it. We had a tremendous practice today. Nobody was here and we didn't do anything. But, I think that's just what the team needs right now.

We didn't play well last week and we all understand that. Jay understands he needs to play better. I'm certain he'd take accountability for that but I'm not going to ask him to do that. He gets kind of moody about stuff like that and that's not what we need right now. I don't want him to feel uncomfortable. He starts doing that neck thing and it's a little intimidating.

Our coaches did a tremendous job preparing our guys last week, and our guys did a tremendous job of preparing. None of it translated to the game Sunday. So, we're just not going to prepare at all this week and that all starts with me. I'm here. Posting on a message board. I don't care about the Vikings or how to stop them right now. Does anybody here know how to stop them? Never mind. I'm not thinking about that now.

We practiced great and none of that showed up in the game. So, I'm just telling everybody to not show up to the practice and we'll see how that goes.

Not really. He was out of the NFL for eight years before he got here. I guess he was okay in the late '80s, maybe.

Cutler said at the beginning of last year's training camp that it would take 3 years to learn a new offense. We just need to be patient for another year and a half.

Listening to Mannelly talk about how the guys in the locker room responded to Jauron and Lovie leads me to believe Trestman is probably done. He said what those guys showed to the media was different than how they interacted with the players behind closed doors. He talked about how players wanted to win for them. Especially when it came to Lovie. I think that was his way of saying that Trestman sounds the same way behind closed doors and that the players wouldn't run through a wet napkin for him.

I read a lot of resumes & have hired a lot of people. The first thing that always jumps off the page is the number of jobs a candidate has held. Job hopping is a red flag. Trestman has had way too many jobs. Trestman has worked for 13 different teams since 1981, with 10 of the 13 teams employing him for 3 years or less. I am hoping the Bears become the 11 team to employ Tresty 3 years or less.

Come on. You know you can't conflate football with the real world on this one. Football coaching is nothing but job-hopping! In fact, conflating real-world office culture with the elaborate fantasyland of football is kind of how we wound up with Marc Trestman in the first place, inasmuch as all he does is barf out warmed-over business jargon that sounds good to and from MBAs and somehow serves its purpose there but isn't germane to coaching at all.

The red flag here, simply put, is that Trestman had been out of the NFL for eight years and out of the entire sport of American football for six years. At a time when the NFL changes more from year to year than it ever has, you need to look at coaches on the vanguard, not guys who had been off coaching a bunch of part-timers and practicing law. Before you even get to all his character flaws, you should have ruled him out based on the fact that his most recent projects were Rich Gannon and Jerry Rice.
