Amazing to me that Dan refers to Cutler as a coach killer, that he always left bodies in his wake - yet when Cutler was signed he was the second coming, and what a terrific get it was for the Bears, that you don't find these types of qb's available in a trade. To bad señor columnist didn't have a "column" when Cutler was signed - easy to forget what you've said when there's no visual record ( let the record show...)

if memory serves wasn't it april fools day 2009 that the story broke and by the next day it was official? i remember listening to b&b and they were emphatically saying YOU GO MAKE THAT MOVE NOW. IMMEDIATELY. and while that also began the era of KYLE ORT-MAN callers (and brick's CSFMB raison d'etre) it also marked the beginning of terry's disdain for josh mcdaniels (the little pudwhack) who did make terry look very good when he was doing victory laps around the home stadium after his first win (lastings milledge anyone?) and started 5-0, only to crater and crash and well that kind of put to bed the ORT-MAN stuff for that year, where they ended up a frustrating 5-9 before two late season wins including a 6-9 bears team beating a 13-2 vikings team @home on monday night football!

the rest is history. i think the narrative slowly changed to "jay is a pudwhack but he's our pudwhack" and that held up all the way through, well, i would guess this year since the offense was fine last year and i dont remember there being much outcry in 2012 where they went 10-6 with cutler starting 15 games, and in 2011 they were 7-3 when cutler broke his thumb (defending an INT he threw, of course) and in 2010 he led them to the NFC championship game... so yeah while b&b turned around on trestman and the whole REALLY. SMART. PEOPLE. thing this year and i haven't heard about the golden age of GMs in chicago for awhile, i think this year is the first year where it's all in on jay cutler because from 2010-2013 he was pretty damn solid as a bears starter but now.... who knows what happens sunday? it will be fascinating to see.
