I was a huge fan of Shanny, but his time has come & gone. Give me Harbaugh or Malzahn.

Who is the reigning visionary of the Arena league? Perhaps we could get him if the price is right.

I want nothing to do with Shanny.

But I can see where this would make sense considering they are married to Cutler for awhile.

And at this point, he would be a big improvement on Trestman.

Shanahan makes no sense whatsoever.

This is simply click bait.

Sure it does. He seems to be the only coach to have ever coached Cutler who wanted to coach him again.

Again, I am firmly in the NO camp on him. But it does make sense from that standpoint.

It doesn't though. He was fired while coaching Cutler. He was horrible in his next job. The Bears just hired a coach based on Cutler and it has been a disaster. He's old and likely very expensive. Cutler will continue to be empowered by the Bears doing everything they can to placate him.

They need to find a coach who is not at all married to Cutler and see if Cutler is willing to deal with it. The days of this franchise planning everything around Cutler are over. Find a good coach and it's on Cutler to buy in to the new guy in charge.

This would be doubling down on the stupidity of the Trestman hire.

But this is the Bears. They do not think as you do. If they are married to Cutler then they will probably go after another coach who is good with Cutler.

I agree with a lot of what say here, but don't you expect them to double down on stupidity again?

Sadly, I do.

It there's anybody bold enough to double down on the demonstrable stupidity of a previous action, it's Phil Emery. Let's pray he goes at season's end along with Trestman.

I nominate Mike Lombardi as the inaugural President of Football Operations for the Bears.

That's a fair point. I'm hoping the rumors of a full housecleaning are true.

If they hire Shanahan I'm going to find a better run team to root for like the Jets.

Forte would love that system. He would take guys off the street and make them 1000 yard rushers.

they'd go 4-12 and you'd claim it wasn't Culter's fault becuase the league "caught up" with Shanahan.

If you're looking to hire Mike Shanahan, you might as well just get the band back together and reach out to Ditka & Ryan for all the good it will do ... maybe just fold up and move to Boise ... either would lead to slightly less grief in the end.

The Ryan hire may be an issue.

The Bears could hire Rex and require him to adopt an accent and "folksy" idiom as a condition of his employment.

If they can wheel Virginia around "Weekend at Bernie's" style with a straight face, you can get Buddy hoisted up on a Lechter-style dolly up and down the sidelines and it won't stink as bad as the current outfit.

If the Bears aren't going to hire Malzahn, Mullen or Harbaugh there's no point in firing Trestman.

I love all 3 of those guys, but Trestman must be fired regardless of who the next coach is.
