Gasol had good numbers in the West last year. The Bulls may very well have the best two Centers in the East. Of course they will both be 4/5 combos.

I would like to see Ray Allen some how some way. Fifteen mins a game including the final 5. For a couple of years why not?

Allen is going to Cleveland.

I don't think so unless he believes that they can win a championship. The Bulls should strike right now.

Gasol is a Kenny Williams type pick-up. The guy you always wanted when he was good but never had the chance to get. Now he's running out of gas, but you get him anyway.

That is a good way to put it.

I am holding out a sliver of hope there is another move coming.

True...but most White Sox fans know and freely acknowledge (perhaps even revel in) their teams weaknesses. That's part of being a Sox fan. (just to be clear - I am a Sox fan).

I was initially very cold on this move, but as I've said elsewhere, I'm warming up to it. The great thing is that he can play the 4 or 5. That's so important. It gives Thibs a ton of flexibility.

Also, I'd sort of forgotten what an amazing human being he is. Honestly, he's close to the real-life embodiment of the most interesting man in the world. This guy was on track to become a medical doctor. He's a lock for the basketball hall of fame. He speaks Spanish, Catalan, and English fluently, and taught himself French and Italian. He plays the piano. He sits in on surgeries. He's very active in numerous charities. He's probably a flat-out genius. The Bulls FO places a premium on character guys, and he may well be the single greatest person in the NBA, character-wise.

I guess we'll see how much ball he has left. I dismissed the degree to which his role in the Lakers offense had hurt him of late, but it's at least worth considering. And even so, he put up decent numbers. A 19 PER for a player you signed for $7.5M is good in almost any case. If Thibs can pick his spots well, he could be very effective. You worry about the physical aspect at 34 years old, but the mental portion of the game is an A+. If he fails, it's because his body fails him.

I really dislike that third year, but I'm guessing it was a deal breaker so whatever. Other than that I like the move and I like that he turned down more money to come here.

Pau Gasol has 22 blocks in 9 games.

Last year Carlos Boozer had 22 blocks the entire season.

was wrong. I agreed with JORR about Gasol being old, but he was a good pickup and a tremendous upgrade over Boozer. His numbers still aren't great because he's missing bunnies but he will get therE. He spreads out the offense very well.

i would go as far as to guess that the last few years in LALA-land weren't quite pau's cup of tea as i don't think they've had a real coach for awhile (i <3 muh d'fense! going back to the phoenix days, let alone the knicks days) and pretty much the team has been "let's all huddle around kobe and pray" and from what i can gather of the early bulls season gasol likes being in a properly organized/well-coached situation and as such he's showing that he had more in the tank than the last couple'a seasons would have you indicate (or maybe he was just injured?)

totally cromulent move as you essentially traded boozer for gasol and reap the benefits of a better basketball player. neither are especially good at defense but at the very least gasol will go through the motions to convince you that he's out there trying..... boozer? forget about it. and in terms of offense welp gasol has a properly skillful big man's game and boozer has..... fake hair! lol.

so yeah the bulls definitely upgraded on the 4 tip, and now they're reaping the benefits of having a legit power forward to play with the get-along-game, it's a pity that derrick is fucked up and overly worried about falling apart at the slightest touch. i reckon this will likely sort itself out over time but still until that day.... yeargh

Gasol can frustrate the hell out of me but he has been great. Not seeing Boozer screaming has been a bonus.

Not having Boozer on the roster was an upgrade. Didn't matter who replaced him.

It's weird because if you asked me what I thought about most individual players on the Bulls, I'd say they are at least meeting my expectations, but the team as a whole has not. I hope Thibs can work his usual midseason magic and make them gel.

I always believed that he was a good pickup. His skill set and ability to play with his back to the basket was something that Bulls were lacking. The biggest problem with Boozer for me was not his defense it was his teams tendency to hang around the perimeter and shoot fade away jump shots. He did not create match up problems which you need to win playoff series.

Boozer was an offensive player and that was the reason that he was signed. He was never going to be a shot blocker. He was not very athletic and undersized for his position.

He is also bad at basketball. I'm confident I could score on him.

He was definitely offensive. It would have been nice if he could score, rebound, play defense, hustle, play hard when the game mattered and not paint his head.

Boozer was the ultimate bum slayer. His mediocre stats were all accumulated against bad teams. He is the worst defender I've ever witnessed.

I'm confident you couldn't. Boozer is still a starting nba power forward albeit for one of the worst teams in the league. Boozer was never as bad as portrayed but you weren't winning anything as the starting four.
